inky paws challenge, Newtons Nook Designs

DIY Watercolor Background | Inky Paws Challenge #142

Hi me again! Yup, third time today! Guess I can say it’s been a good day! I just wanted to pop in here with a last minute entry to the Inky Paws Challenge #142.

I love splotchy watercolors, not only are the really quick and easy to make, they look so good!

To create this card, I started by die cutting a scallop heart from watercolor paper, using the Heart Frames Die Set. Then I embossed (in white) the little paw from the Smitten Kittens stamp set to create a background. After heat setting it, I smooshed distress ink (in worn lipstick, dried marigold, crushed olive and tumbled glass) on to some acetate. I sprayed it with water and ‘rubbed’ the heart die cut on to it. After carefully flipping it, I heat dried it to make sure that all the colors don’t mix together to become a mucky brown! Lastly I stamped a sentiment with dye inks to create a rainbow look. I used a sentiment from the Heartfelt Love stamp set, stamp on a banner trio die cut.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Not 2 Shabby

Printing on Vellum | Not 2 Shabby Stamps

Happy Friday! It’s been a long week! Super excited for the weekend and fingers crossed it goes better than last weekend!

I recently discovered that you can print digital images on vellum! I haven’t experimented past printing, but I think this is going to open up a lot of possibilities on using digital stamps!

Last month I created a ‘stamped background’ using the Sprinkled with Love from Not 2 Shabby Stamp. I decided to make another ‘5 min card’ as I call them using the same background, but printed on vellum this time. After printing, I trimmed it down, backed it with some pattern paper and added a stacked die cut sentiment. Lastly I added some clay confetti.

Have you tried printing on vellum? Would love to see your cards, be sure to tag me on Instagram (@everydayengineered)!

Ink Swiping | Concord and 9th

Happy almost weekend! Popping in today with a ‘5 min’ card! This card was inspired by a friend on instagram.

I started by embossing the floral image and sentiments from the Concord and 9th Hello Lovely. Then I swiped the ink using Gina K ink cubes (in passionate pink, wild dandelion, and blue lagoon). That’s it! This is a great technique to use when mass producing cards!

Pretty Pink Posh

Layer Die Shaker Card | #racismisaviruscardhop

Happy Hump Day! Welcome to the #racismisaviruscardhop! Please head over to naushabuloushandmade on Instagram to hop along.

I made a card inspired by my time in Vietnam (I need to share pictures of that, one day!)

I ink blended an A2 card panel with my Taylored Expression blending brushes and fired brick distress oxide ink. The I die cut the outline of the flower and leaf using the Layered Rose Die Set from Altenew. I die cut the details, along with the Thinking of You Script Die from golden glitter paper. I layered the die cut card front and added a LOT of foam tape to create the shaker window. Filled it with some older Pretty Pink Posh star sequins. Finished off my adding the glitter die cuts and some gold jewels.

This card was inspired by Ink Hill Revival. Thanks for always inspiring us!

Thanks for stopping by the blog today.

Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Day 4 – Newton’s Rainy Day Trio and Daffodils + coordinating Dies

Welcome back for Day 3 of reveal week at Newton’s Nook Designs. Today we are showcasing the Rainy Day Trio and Daffodils stamp set and coordinating Dies. Here’s how I was inspired.

Save the best for last, right! These two sets are my favorite from the release!

For my first card, I made a slimline card using the new Daffodils stamp set. I colored them using copic markers and die cut them. Then using the Slimline Frames & Portholes Die Set and Slimline Frames & Windows Die Set, I die cut a white scalloped rectangle along with squares out of green pattern paper. For the center of the card, before stamping the sentiment, I layered the Slimline Masking Circles & Squares Stencil Set along with the Petite Flowers Stencil and inked it up with some yellow ink. Lastly, I added the daffodils with some foam tape and a few sequins.

For my second card, I colored the Newton’s Rainy Day Trio stamp set using zig real brush markers in a rainbow manner, die cut and set it aside. To create the background, I started by embossing a light blue piece of cardstock using the Raindrops Stencil, then I used the same stencil to ink up a piece of vellum with blue pigment ink and quickly added glitter embossing powder before the ink dried. I embossed the sentiment and die cut the vellum using a scalloped circle from the Circle Frames Die Set.

Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Day 3 – Baa + coordinating Dies

Welcome back for Day 3 of reveal week at Newton’s Nook Designs. Today we are showcasing the Baa stamp set and coordinating Dies. Here’s how I was inspired.

To create this card, I stamped, copic colored and die cut all the sheep from the Baa stamp set (one didn’t fit on the card!). The I create a inked cloud background using tumbled glass distress ink and the Clouds Stencil. Then I die cut circles from the Circle Frames die set, and inked them using the Hills & Grass Stencil and mowed lawn distress ink. I finished off the card with a sentiment from the same Baa stamp set, and adhering the sheep with foam tape for some added dimension.

Would you like to win the “Baa” Stamp Set? This stamp set will be given away to ONE lucky winner!

Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Day 2 – Hoppy Greetings and Hare Mail + coordinating Dies

Welcome back for Day 2 of reveal week at Newton’s Nook Designs. Today we are showcasing the Hoppy Greetings and Hare Mail stamp set and coordinating Dies. Here’s how I was inspired.

For both my cards, I wanted the images from the Hoppy Greetings and Hare Mail to be the focus of the card, so didn’t add to much to the background.

For my first card using the Hoppy Greetings stamp set, I stamped, die cut and added a little shading to the bunny and colored the grass and flower. Then I paper pieced the ‘sign’ with some woodgrain pattern paper and heat embossed the sentiment. To create the background I used light blue card stick and did a little tone on tone ink blending with the Clouds Stencil to create a sky and using the Hills & Grass Stencil I traced and cut a hill out of pattern paper and inked on some grass.

For my second card, I did a little ink smooshing to create a watercolor rainbow on watercolor paper trimmed down using the scallop rectangle from , and added the bunny from Hare Mail stamp set. I used a sentiment from the Hoppy Greeting to finish off the Frames & Flags Die Set.

Would you like to win the “Hoppy Greetings” Stamp Set? This stamp set will be given away to ONE lucky winner!
