CAS Egg Shaped Easter Card | Ellen Hutson

Happy Tuesday crafty friends! I was on the Ellen Hutson Blog last Friday sharing an Easter card using the new Sweet Spring stamp set and wanted to share in on here too cause I loved how it came out! I was inspired (probably more manifesting spring!) using pastel colors that make me think of Spring and all the new blossoms coming our way!

To some, this may not be a CAS card, but for my cardmaking style of ink blending and multiple layers, I consider this a CAS card! Sharing some tips below to match your card to the season!

Firstly I stamped multiple images from the Sweet Spring with black ink on to copic friendly white paper, and colored them using my lightest copic combos. I always associate pastels with Spring, muted colors with Fall, and blues with Winter! The copic markers I used are shown below.

Next I using the Essential Eggs Dies to cut out a shaped card front. I also used the next size down die to cut a golden border to match the gold paint splatter I added to the card front as I wanted to add a little sparkle to the background, after adding the paint it also looked more like an easter egg!

For the sentiment, I used the new Some Bunny die. I wanted to match it to my colored images, but I didn’t have matching colored card stock, but no worries! I just used copic markers to create an ombre look that matched my images!

I diecut a few extra of the sentiment to stack them up before adding them to the card front. I like the dimension of stacked word sentiments on a card front, worth the extra effort! Make sure to save the negative of the die cut to help add it to the front of your card!

Lastly, to add the backing of the card, just score a bit on the top, fold it down and add some strong double sided tape.

I finished off the card by adding die cut word sentiment and the colored images to create a small scene and also used both foam tape and liquid adhesive to create some dimension when layering the images.

Thank you all for following along, I hope that you are inspired to create something with a spring or easter them, or not! If you do get crafty, please tag me @everydayengineered on Instagram, along with @ellenhutsonllc so that we can see what you have made!

And lastly, thank you to the Ellen Hutson team for having me back on the EH blog!

Take care,

Coloring for a Cause | Ellen Hutson

This past weekend, I was able to join Ellen Huston for a coloring for a cause Instagram Blog Hop. I thought that I would pop in here today to share the card I created, as the digital coloring book is still available at Ellen Huston.

I used the image of the bouquet of sunflowers from the coloring book, resizing it a little before printing. I colored it using a combination of sketchmarkers and copic markers.

Once I was done coloring I cut out the image using a stitched rectangle die. I created the background for the card using strip dies and blue and yellow card stock.

I finished off the card using a sentiment from the Courage Stamp Set, embossed in white on to black cardstock.

The hop is over, but the war is still going on, and the beautiful art from Ukrainian artist are still on Instagram so head over and share some love on their feed!

CAS Ice Cream Birthday | Ellen Hutson x Mama Elephant

Happy Monday! I’m still procrastinating on my mile long to do list, I did knock off a few things, so maybe I’ll call creating this card a break? The new Ice Cream Stand stamp set from Ellen Hutson and Mama Elephant is such a cute set, I just can’t get enough of it!It’s part of their summer of stamping celebration, and there’s a lot more fun coming (make sure to check out the latest release here)!

As I was short on time, I used a graphic from Mama Elephant as my inspiration for coloring! After stamping the images from the Ice Cream Stand stamp set, and coloring the images using copic markers, and die cut them using the coordinating dies.

To ground the images on the card, I used a circle die to create a mask and inked it up using some Salvage Patina Distress Oxide ink.

I added the die cut images to the card and stamped the sentiment from the same Ice Cream Stand stamp set to finish off the card!

Thanks for stopping by the blog, make sure to stop by Ellen Hutson tomorrow as they have a new release coming!

Ice Cream Birthday | Ellen Hutson x Mama Elephant

Happy “Friday eve”! I’m 100% procrastinating on my mile long to do list, but the new Ice Cream Stand stamp set from Ellen Hutson and Mama Elephant was too cute not to get ink ASAP! It’s part of their summer of stamping celebration, and there’s a lot more fun coming!

Given I didn’t have too much time on hand, and I messed up my first colored image, I went for a CAS card, I have some fun ideas brewing in my head, so let’s see if they get on to paper!

To create this card, I started by stamping the ice cream stand and the little hamster (?) from the Ice Cream Stand stamp set and colored them using copic markers and die cut using the coordinating dies (I picked up the combo!)

I masked off the bottom third of the card front and ink blended the middle third of it with Squeezed Lemonade distress oxide ink. I added the colored images, and stamped a sentiment in the white space.

Thanks for stopping by the blog, make sure to stop by Ellen Hutson tomorrow as they have a new release coming!
