Cup of Cocoa | Newton’s Nook Designs

Happy Monday y’all! I hope that you had a great crafty and caffeinated weekend! Popping in today with a winter themed card, incase you are done with holiday crafting, but still not ready to move on to Valentines!

I started this card by stamping ALL the images from the Cup of Cocoa stamp set on to white card stock and colored them with copic markers (sorry no combos as I used so many I made a mess and lost track!). Once the coloring was done, I fussy cut the images (I finally ordered the die, they just haven’t arrived yet!)

I die cut a stitch square and using some thin washi tape to make a grid that I then inked up using some distress oxide ink in a rainbow order. After removing the wash, I stamped a sentiment in the center square and added the colored images using foam tape. As always I finished off the card using some jewels and adding the card front to a 5 x 5 Kraft card base.

I hope these cards inspire you to create something winter themed! Please make sure to stop by the Newton’s Nook Designs Blog for more inspiration and don’t forget to tag #NewtonsNook or #NewtonsNookDesign on Instagram to share what you created!

Happy crafting!

It’s the holidays! | Honey Bee Stamps

Happy Hump Day! Not sure if it’s the fact that my weekend starts earlier this week or the fact that I’m still playing catch up from the weekend, but this week is flying by! Can you believe it’s 2022 in like 23 days 🤯 Anyways let’s get back to card making, are y’all done with holiday cards?? If not here’s one that can be mass produced!

Ink blending is one of my favorite ways to add color quickly for cards, you can see here, here, and many more ideas here.

To create this card, I started by inking up an A2 piece of Bristol Smooth card stock with distress oxide inks in chipped sapphire, abandoned coral, dried marigold, crushed olive and salvage patina. Next I die cut both the Pierced Fancy Flakes Cover Plate and the Fancy Flakes Cover Plate, layered from the same sheet of A2 white card stock.

To finish off the card I die the words “merry Christmas” from the Bitty Buzzwords: Holidays Dies from golden card stock, and used a few left over colored die cuts from the Riding By…Holiday Style stamp set, and of course I added some jewels!

I hope that this inspires you to create something crafty at the end of your day! If you do, and share on Instagram, be sure to tag me (@everydayengineered) and Honey Bee Stamps (@honeybeestamps)! We love to see what you create!

Happy Crafting!

Deck the Halls with Inky Paws Blog Hop | Newton’s Nook Designs

Today is the Newton’s Nook Designs Deck the Halls with Inky Paws Blog Hop!  You should have arrived here from my teamie, Maria Russell‘s blog.  If not, you’ll want to start at the beginning of the hop which is the Newton’s Nook Designs Blog.

I created today’s card using the Poinsettia Blooms stamp set. They are my current floral obsession!

I started by stamping (and leaving the stamp in my stamp positioner) the largest image from the Poinsettia Blooms stamp set with a light copic friendly ink. I colored it using the following copic markers :

reds : R29, 39, 59, 89
yellow : Y15, 17
greens : [G28, 29] [G21, 24]

After I was done coloring I placed the image back in the stamp positioner and embossed it using gold embossing powder and fussy cut it out.

Using a stitched die cut edge, I cut out little strips from the Meowy Christmas Paper Pad, and added them in a woven pattern on a A2 card front that I dry embossed using the Snowfall Stencil. After I embossed I realized I cannot add a sentiment on the card front directly, so instead I embossed it in gold on to black card stock and and fussy cut around it.

As always I finished off the card using some jewels.
