Stitched Cards

Stitched backgrounds and word die cuts

Does anyone else feel that their weekends tend to be busy than weekdays! I was going to share some last minute Ramadan cards today, but that isn’t happening as I am still putting them together! So instead I am sharing some cards that I sent out yesterday with happy mail (yes I made it to the post office!)

Have you caught the stitching bug yet? I’ve been stitching since last summer, and I am OBSESSED! I take it with me everywhere, flights, road trips, lunch breaks, literally everywhere as I have a little pouch in my purse ALL THE TIME! But some how I never seem to finish them into cards, so that was the challenge to my self this weekend, and I think I’m happy with what I made!

Since the stitched background is itself a show stopper, I decided to keep the rest of the card relatively simple and use some sentiment dies to finish them off.

For the first card, I used the “get well soon” die from Pretty Pink Posh, I stacked them and added some glossy accents to add some dimension. I also added a cherry blossom die cut (to cover up the fact that I didn’t center the die cuts).

On the second card, I cut out the “hugs” word from the Hugs Shaker Die, stacked them too, this time ending with a glitter layer on the top. I had a colored fuchsia left over from a different card and added that to finish it off.

Lastly, I used two sentiment sets from Pretty Pink Posh to finish this card, I didn’t stack the die cuts on this card, but I thought that they looked just as good!

Do you stitch on your cards? If so please share your favorite die in the comments along with how you finish them into a card!

Ramadan Decor (and where to shop)

Between work, A and having a million things to do and catch up on over the weekends, I lost my crafting mojo, so my decor this year is not DIY, well at least not by me! While scrolling on Instagram I found an picture, from CraftyEmo, that I just had to copy her idea! I immediately ordered the banner from Modern Eid and reached out to Eman of CraftyEmo to see if she will make me the rolled flowers she decorated with and she said yes!

So this is what I ended up with along with adding a few star balloons that A and I picked up at the Dollar Store. Am I the only one obsessed with rolled flowers! Hoping I can make them this pretty!

Both Crate and Barrel and Party City carried Ramadan/Eid Decor this year (for the first time!). Unfortunately, they sold out almost immediately, but there are plenty of small business that have amazing products. Here’s a list in case you are still looking for something, or want to get started on your Eid shopping/wish list!

Ramadan

Ramadan Mubarak!

And welcome to my tiny creative corner in the blog world! Why (re)start blogging at one of the busiest times of the year for me? Well, for one they say it takes 21 days to create a habit, so if I manage to share everything we go throughout this month, I’ll easily get to 21 days! And secondly, a conversation with a friend inspired me to blog what I do during Ramadan to share and hopefully inspire everyone else to get creative to make Ramadan special for your family and little ones!

Let’s start today with a Ramadan card made with mostly non Ramadan products. We took a box of dates to give to A’s daycare teacher, and I had to have a card with it!

It also gave me a chance to try out some new color pencils that I got as a gift over the weekend! Thanks for helping me stick to my “no purchase” challenge K!
