Little Blue Truck’s Christmas | Newton’s Nook Designs

Happy Monday! I can’t believe it’s winter break already! I clearly got nothing done as it’s been one thing after the next, and being sick on top of it all, its been a LONG winter, I am sooo ready to get past this chapter of life LOL.

Being sick means staying home as lot, resulting in reading A LOT! I might come on here sometime to share my 2022 reads, I have big plans to finish 3 books in the next 2 weeks to meet my year goal, let’s see how that goes! But what I have been reading a lot of it the little blue truck and his adventures! My little one loves anything that moves, so this card is inspired by his antics!

To create this card, I started by stamping and coloring the image of the truck from the Holiday Haul Stamp Set. As I mentioned my coloring was inspired by the “Little Blue Truck”, once I was done coloring, I die cut it using the coordinating Holiday Haul Die Set. The copic colors I used are shown below.

I created the background of the card, with multiple layers of ink blenidng and stenciling! For the first later, I used shades of grey-blue to create a winter evening sky, next I ink blended the line of trees using the Christmas Tree Line Stencil, along with 2 shades of green ink and brown for the stumps. My last layer was done using the Petite Snow Stencil, and texture paste.

Only after the white texture paste dried, did I notice that I hadn’t stamped a sentiment nor left space for one! So I quickly cut a hill from some scrap paper, inked it up lightly with some grey ink, and stamped a sentiment from the Heartfelt Holidays Stamp Set. Once the texture paste dried, I finished off the card by adding the sentiment strip and the colored image of the truck.

Warm Wintery Birthday Wishes

Happy Tuesday! Hope that y’all are having a great start to the week! It’s a busy week here in real life as its the last week of school, so trying to get as much done in my kid free time!

I’m up on the Newton’s Nook Blog today sharing a birthday card inspired by the cold weather we have had recently!

To create this card, I started by playing around with the coffee mug images from the Cup of Cocoa Stamp Set, lining them up along the longer side of an A2 card. Since was going to do partial die cutting, I needed space them well to be able to die cut with space in-between. Once stamped I colored them using copic markers, shown below.

After coloring, I used the coordinating dies to partially die cut all of the images, and then trimmed off the rest of the paper using a craft knife. Next I stamped a sentiment from the Time For Coffee Stamp Set on the front of the card.

As this was a partial die cut card, you can see to into the card, so I decided to add some pattern paper from the Canine Christmas Paper Pad along with stamping a coordinating sentiment inside the card, from the same Time For Coffee Stamp Set.

Deck the Halls with Inky Paws Blog Hop | Newton’s Nook Designs

Today is the Newton’s Nook Designs Deck the Halls with Inky Paws Blog Hop!  You should have arrived here from my teamie, Maria Russell‘s blog.  If not, you’ll want to start at the beginning of the hop which is the Newton’s Nook Designs Blog.

For today’s hop I created this fun see though card using acetate! This card actually ended up the way I imagined in my head!

To create it, I started by stenciling the Snowfall Stencil with texture paste on to a sheet of acetate, once it dried a trimmed it down to an A2 card front.

While the stenciled acetate was drying, I colored from the Newton’s Gift using copic marker, and die cut it using the coordinating die. I also embossed a sentiment from the same stamp set in white embossing powder. Next I die cut two stitched ovals using the Oval Frames Die Set from the Canine Christmas Paper Pad.

To finish the card, I trimmed down a sheet of light blue paper to an A2 size, and scored it 1/4 of an inch on the long edge and used double sided tape the acetate sheet to create the card front. I added the ovals die cuts to the acetate sheet, and then the colored die cut image. Lastly I finished the card off by stamping a sentiment from the Heartfelt Holidays.

Winter Slimline Shaker

Hello Crafty friends! Welcome back to a very neglected blog! I’ve been crafting a little here and there, but not really sharing as much, it’s just been a busy season in life! Thankfully for y’all hanging around, especially on Instagram!

This month I have the honor of guest designing for Pixi Dust Designs! They have the cutest collection of products, including A LOT of fun slimline products. Having not made a slim line card in a while, I was really inspired by her products to create a slimline shaker!

To create this card I started by coloring some of the images from the Winter Penguin and the Christmas Gnomes stamp set with copic markers. Once I was done coloring, I fussy cut the images as they don’t have coordinating dies.

To create the shaker window I started by die cutting the Let it Snow Slimline from white cardstock, and also trimmed down a sheet to 8.5″ by 3.5″ to back the shaker. Using distress oxides in Spun Sugar and Salvaged Patina I ink blended the backer to create a wintery sunset scene. Before creating the shaker window, I added a hill die cut from the Hills & Trees Slimline, along with one of my colored images, between the woodland shaker front and the acetate layer. I finished off the shaker by filling it with an assortment of sequins.

I finished off the card by adding the rest of the colored images to the front along with the sentiment.
