A Little Birdie Told Me… | Newton’s Nook Designs

Hi crafty friends! I haven’t been on here in so long that I have no idea where to even start! It’s been a busy couple of months, and I know that the next few coming up are going to be just as busy! I just hope to be able to squeeze in some crafty time as I have the cutest products staring at me! Starting with the new birdhouse themed products from Newton’s Nook Designs! I finally got to use them to make this easy card!

To create this card I started by inking up the layers of the Birdhouse Line Stencil. I inked up the first row using bright rainbow distress inks. The I inked the row of roofs and birdhouse poles using brown distress ink, and lastly inked the third row, using black ink.

Next I cut the inked panel with the Slimline Frames & Portholes Die Set to give the look of an edge die cut. I also trimmed two pieces of pattern paper from the  Springtime Paper Pad and die cut it using the same scallop frame die from the Slimline Frames & Portholes Die Set, I tucked the pattern paper behind the inked panel to hide the trimmed side of the piece!

Lastly to finish off the card, I stamped sentiments from the Birdhouse Greetings Stamp Set with black ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder.

Thanks for stopping by today! Please make sure to stop by the Newton’s Nook Designs Blog for more inspiration and don’t forget to tag #NewtonsNook or #NewtonsNookDesign on Instagram to share what you created!

Happy crafting!

Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Day 4 – Fabulous Fungus + coordinating Dies

Happy Thursday! Welcome to the last day of reveal week for at Newton’s Nook Designs March release! The release goes live tomorrow! Today we are showcasing the Fabulous Fungus stamp set along with the coordinating dies.

I used today’s stamp set, the Fabulous Fungus to create this very CAS card! Very rare for me, but I really wanted to let the image of the stamp set shine!

To create this card, I started by stamping two of the images from twice, and the cluster of mushrooms once. I stamped them using light brown ink, and restamped with watermark ink and embossed with gold embossing powder after coloring the images with copic markers. After the embossing cooled, I die cut all the images using the coordinating dies.

I added the images on to a card front, using liquid adhesive and foam tape for added dimension. I finished off the card by stamping and embossing a sentiment from the same set.

Thanks for following along all week! Can’t wait to see what y’all get tomorrow and what you create!

Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Day 3 – Spring Blooms Oval

Happy Hump Day! I hope that y’all are having a great week, if not, it’s almost the weekend! This week is reveal week over at Newton’s Nook Designs for their March Release and it’s been so exciting to share inspiration with you this week! Today we are showcasing the Spring Blooms Oval stamp set, the newest addition to the Oval Card Front collection, that works perfectly with the Oval Frames Die Set.

The Spring Blooms Oval stamp set is currently my favorite from the Oval Card Front collection cause I can never say no to a tulip or a daffodil stamp set, and you put both of them into one stamp set!! Oh my!

To create this card, I started by stamping the the oval image with light brown ink, and then colored it using copic markers. Once I was done coloring I restamped the image using watermark ink and embossed the image with gold embossing powder. Once the image cooled, I die cut it using the largest scallop die from the Oval Frames Die Set.

To finish off the card, I stamped and embossed a sentiment on a smaller stitched oval die cut, and inked it up using some yellow ink to match the daffodils. I added the sentiment die cut to the oval image, and then added it to the card from that I embossed using the new Quatrefoil Stencil.

I hope you like the card I created, I know this one will be used again soon! Now for the fun part of reveal week …

Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Day 2 – Newton’s Umbrella and Rainy Day Doxie + coordinating Dies

Happy Tuesday! It’s time for the March reveal week over at Newton’s Nook Designs and I’m so excited to share a ton of inspiration with you this week! Today we are showcasing the Newton’s Umbrella and Rainy Day Doxie stamp sets along with their coordinating dies.

For my first card today I used the Newton’s Umbrella stamp set. I started by stamping the large image along with a few raindrops, I colored them in using copic marker, and die cutting them using the coordinating dies. I also die cut a banner from vellum using a banner die from the Frames & Flags Die Set and embossed a sentiment from the stamp set onto it.

I finished off the card with an embossed card front using the Petite Cloud Stencil, and I added a strip of pattern paper from the Springtime Paper Pad before adding the sentiment banner tucked behind the color Newton image, and lastly I used the colored raindrops as embellishments!

My second card features the new Rainy Day Doxie stamp set, it’s such a perfect set for spring! My card is inspired by the tulip fields in the PNW, and the Spring Blooms Paper Pad made the perfect easy background for the card!

To create this card, I started by stamping and coloring the image from the Rainy Day Doxie stamp set, along with the puddle and a few water splatters, and die cut them using the coordinating dies. I also embossed a sentiment on a banner die cut from the Frames & Flags Die Set.

To finish off my card, I trimmed down a sheet of pattern paper from the new Spring Blooms Paper Pad to an A2 size, and added my images with some foam tape. Lastly, I added the banner to the corner of the card front.

Thank you for making it this far into the post! Now for the fun part!

Happy Monday! It’s time for the March reveal week over at Newton’s Nook Designs and I’m so excited to share a ton of inspiration with you this week! Today we are showcasing the Spring Haul stamp set along with the Spring Garden Line and Quatrefoil Stencil, Spring Blooms Paper Pad.

The Haul collection or as I like to call it, the Little Blue Truck collection is getting a new addition this release with the Spring Haul stamp set and its coordinating die! I used it to create this fun spring card inspired by the tulip fields in Washington!

To create this card, I started by stamping the large image from the Spring Haul stamp set along with some of the smaller images. I colored them using copic markers and die cut them using the coordinating dies.

Next I created the scene on the background using a combination of pattern paper from the Springtime Paper Pad (cloud background) and the new Spring Blooms Paper Pad (tulips), and lastly a grass die cut inked up with green ink and stamped the sentiment from the Spring Haul stamp set.

I finished off the card by the colored truck image, and scattering the smaller images around similar to embellishments. Thanks for making it this far into the post!

Newton’s Nook Designs – DAY 4 – Never Enough Cats + coordinating Dies

Happy Thursday! It’s the last day of reveal week over at Newton’s Nook Designs and I’m so excited to share a ton of inspiration with you this week! Today we are showcasing the Never enough Cats stamp set along with the coordinating Dies. Here’s how I was inspired!

Sharing a card today using my new favorite technique, partial die cutting! To create this card, I started by stamping the large image from the Never Enough Cats stamp set onto the center of an A2 card front. Use a heavier card stock to avoid color bleeding though. I colored my image using shades of brown – grey paints, but you can use what ever coloring medium you are comfortable with.

Once the paint dried, I used the coordinating die to cut only half of the image, by covering only half the die in my sandwich for the die cutting machine. Next I a paper trimmer to cut off the excess paper to allow the cut out shape to show clearly.

Lastly, I finished off the card by adding a strip of pattern paper behind the image to allow it pop a bit more, and stamped a sentiment with black ink on to it.

Would you like to win the “Never Ending Cats” Stamp Set?This stamp set will be given away to ONE lucky winner!

Newton’s Nook Designs – DAY 3 – Never Enough Dogs + coordinating Dies

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is nnd_jan23releaseicon.png

Happy Wednesday! It’s the first reveal week of 2023 over at Newton’s Nook Designs and I’m so excited to share a ton of inspiration with you this week! Today we are showcasing the Never enough Dogs stamp set along with the coordinating Dies. Here’s how I was inspired!

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is nnd_jan_23_day_41.jpg

Y’all I finally made a card for this release! I started to create this card by stamping the large image from the Never Ending Dogs stamp set. I colored it in using a large selection of grey and brown copic markers, I tried to alternate the colors so that all the dogs don’t just blend into one big blob! After I was done coloring I die cut it using the coordinating die.

I was struggling with a layout, and then came across the current Inky Paws Challenge and used their sketch as inspiration. I trimmed down one sheet of pattern paper from the Love & Woofs paper pad and added it to the A2 sized white card front. next I cut a banner from pattern paper using a banner die cut from the Frames & Flags Die Set and one from coordinating plain card stock. I stamped and embossed a sentiment on to the second banner, and added both of them to the card front and finally added the colored image using some foam tape.

Newton’s Nook Designs – DAY 1 – Puppy Heart + coordinating Dies, Love & Woofs Paper Pad and Love & Chocolate Paper Pad

Happy Monday! It’s the first reveal week of 2023 over at Newton’s Nook Designs and I’m so excited to share a ton of inspiration with you this week! Today we are showcasing the Puppy Heart stamp set along with the coordinating Dies, and a new paper pads, Love & Woofs and Love & Chocolate. Here’s how I was inspired!

I started by stamping the image from the Puppy Heart stamp set onto white cardstock and coloring it with copic markers, and die cutting it using the coordinating die. Lastly, I stamped a sentiment into the heart.

Instead of creating another card, I decided to instead make a book mark using the Bookmark Die Set and a sheet of pattern paper from the new Love & Chocolate paper pad. I also used the paw die cut from the Bookmark Die Set and cut a few from coordinating plain cardstock to add to the background.

Finally, I finished off the bookmark by adding a ribbon and the colored image to the bookmark.

Newton’s Nook Designs October Release – Day 3 – Christmas Nap and Newton’s Gift + coordinating Die

Happy Wednesday! It’s reveal week over at Newton’s Nook Designs and I’m so excited to share a ton of inspiration with you this week! It might not be the holiday season yet, but it sure looks like it’s here in my craft room! Today we are showcasing the Christmas Nap and Newton’s Gift along with the coordinating Dies! Here’s how I was inspired!

I love creating all ‘levels’ of cards! Sometimes its a super detailed shaker, some times I let the stamp and paper do the work!

For my first card today, I started by stamping, and sentiment, then colored the image from Newton’s Gift with copic markers and die cut it using the coordinating dies. My color palette was inspired by a sheet of pattern paper from the Canine Christmas Paper Pad that I used as the card base.

Once I was done coloring, I trimmed down a piece of pattern paper to an A2 size and used the extra flipped over to create a little dimension.

The colored image was blending into the background, so I decided to die cut a vellum oval using the Oval Frames Die Set to back the image and have it pop a little!

For my second card, I used the new Christmas Nap stamp set, and the image itself is a scene, so I didn’t want to add to much to the card front, and decided to add a night sky shaker window to look like a window behind the sofa.

To create the card, I started by stamping the image, coloring with copic markers and die cutting using the coordinating dies.

Next I created the shaker window using the outline die from the Snow Globe Shaker Die Set, and backed it with acetate. For the back of the shaker I inked blended with distress oxide inks in Stormy Sky and Speckled Egg. Once it was dry, I added some texture paste with the Petite Snow Stencil. I filled the shaker with stars and sequins before adding it to the back of the card.

I finished off the card my adding the colored image in front of the window, and adding the sentiment at the bottom.

Would you like to win the “Christmas Nap” or the “Newton’s Gift” Stamp Set? We will choose ONE lucky winner for each stamp set!
