BBQ Birthday Card | Newton’s Nook Designs

Happy Tuesday y’all! It’s super hot in the Seattle area, thankfully we have AC and I can hide out in my craftroom, well not really as I have a huge baking project this week, so even more grateful for the AC! Anyhoo… this card is inspired by the BBQ we hosted when it wasn’t a million degrees, and hopefully it cools down again soon, so that we can use the deck again!

Masculine cards are the hardest card for this floral loving crafter to make, so when these fun BBQ themed sets came my way from Newton’s Nook Design I was finally inspired to step out of my comfort zone!

To create this fun shaker card, I started by stamping and coloring all the images (minus the apron!) from the Dad’s BBQ. Once colored I die cut them using the coordinating dies. Next I built the sentiment from the same stamp set by embossing them in white on to banners die cut from black card stock using the Banner Trio Die Set.

Next I created the back of shaker by stamping and embossing the BBQ Roundabout stamp in white. I inked blended over it with blue and green ink, and buffed it after to make sure the white pops! For the front of the card, I die cut a circle using the Circle Frames Die Set for a sheet of pattern paper from the Summertime Paper Pad trimmed down to an A2 card front size. I filled the shaker with white sequins and the little colored die cuts.

I finished off the card by adding the sentiment strips along with the bbq grill image and the flames on top of the shaker window.

CAS Ice Cream Birthday | Ellen Hutson x Mama Elephant

Happy Monday! I’m still procrastinating on my mile long to do list, I did knock off a few things, so maybe I’ll call creating this card a break? The new Ice Cream Stand stamp set from Ellen Hutson and Mama Elephant is such a cute set, I just can’t get enough of it!It’s part of their summer of stamping celebration, and there’s a lot more fun coming (make sure to check out the latest release here)!

As I was short on time, I used a graphic from Mama Elephant as my inspiration for coloring! After stamping the images from the Ice Cream Stand stamp set, and coloring the images using copic markers, and die cut them using the coordinating dies.

To ground the images on the card, I used a circle die to create a mask and inked it up using some Salvage Patina Distress Oxide ink.

I added the die cut images to the card and stamped the sentiment from the same Ice Cream Stand stamp set to finish off the card!

Thanks for stopping by the blog, make sure to stop by Ellen Hutson tomorrow as they have a new release coming!

Ice Cream Birthday | Ellen Hutson x Mama Elephant

Happy “Friday eve”! I’m 100% procrastinating on my mile long to do list, but the new Ice Cream Stand stamp set from Ellen Hutson and Mama Elephant was too cute not to get ink ASAP! It’s part of their summer of stamping celebration, and there’s a lot more fun coming!

Given I didn’t have too much time on hand, and I messed up my first colored image, I went for a CAS card, I have some fun ideas brewing in my head, so let’s see if they get on to paper!

To create this card, I started by stamping the ice cream stand and the little hamster (?) from the Ice Cream Stand stamp set and colored them using copic markers and die cut using the coordinating dies (I picked up the combo!)

I masked off the bottom third of the card front and ink blended the middle third of it with Squeezed Lemonade distress oxide ink. I added the colored images, and stamped a sentiment in the white space.

Thanks for stopping by the blog, make sure to stop by Ellen Hutson tomorrow as they have a new release coming!

Avery Elle

Beach Birthday Card | Avery Elle

Hello crafty friends! I hope that you are having a great start to the week! I was on the ScrapbookPal blog yesterday with this card that was 100% inspired by my recent vacation in Hawaii! I spent most of it on the beach reading a book with the loveliest drinks in hand! Okay, enough reminiscing, lets get to the card!

To create this card, I started by stamping and coloring a set of images from the Avery Elle Beachy stamp set with copic markers. I cut them out using the coordinating dies.

Next I used distress oxide inks (in Brushed Corduroy, Salvaged Patina, Mermaid Lagoon, Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade) to create a sand-sea-sky background. I splattered it with a bit of white and black paint to add some dimension.

Using a basic circle die and wave edge die, I die cut the inked background to create focal point for the card. I played around with the images to see how do create the scene.

I die cut a card front using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Ripple Backdrop and embossed the sentiment using white embossing powder onto black card stock strips.

I finished off the card by layering all the pieces, and added the sentiment strips along with some sequins.

I hope this inspires you to dig out some critter stamps and create a scene card!

Thanks for following along today! I hope that this card inspires you to create something!

Till the next time, take care!

Get Well Soon | Pretty Pink Posh

Happy Monday! I hope that y’all had a great weekend and are ready for the week! I have a pretty busy week coming up and here’s to hoping that I can keep the productivity from last week going! Popping in today to share a card for a cause, Shery Russ, owner of STAMPlorations. I was lucky enough to guest design for her a while back and she’s not only creative, but a great person! Unfortunately she is suffering from cancer now and needs all the support and help that she can get! We hope they hop can get the word out!

I have this “Get well soon” die from Pretty Pink Posh and I’m grateful I don’t have to use it often, but it seemed like a fitting card for this hop. I started by die cutting the Get well soon die from purple glitter card stock, and a second time using black card stock to create a shadow. Using a glue pen I layered the die cuts off set, and placed it under a heavy book to set.

Next I used the Floral Background stencil along with Distress Oxides in Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, and Picked Raspberry to create an inked background.

Lastly, I stamped the wreath from the Spring Wreath Stamp Set with Memento Rich Cocoa and colored it using copic markers. Once I was done coloring I stamped the image again, this time using Versamark Ink and embossed it using Gold Embossing Powder. I die cut it using the coordinating die and added it to my inked background. And finished off by layering the sentiment on the wreath.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today, if you’d like to hop along and see all the other projects shared, head over to this post on Instagram!

Newton’s Nook Designs Birthday Release – Day 4 – Birthday Release Recap | Newton’s Nook Designs

Happy birthday to Newton’s Nook DesignsI hope you’ve enjoyed all the birthday themed inspiration I shared this week! Everything will be available for purchase tomorrow, July 15 and there will be having a Birthday Sale! While you wait for the release to go live, I thought that I would share a few more cards to inspire y’all!

I used some of my favorite products from the release to create a few more CAS-ish cards as I just couldn’t stop creating with all the cuteness in the release!

For my first card, I used an image from the Birthday Mice stamp set, I colored it using alcohol markers, and die cut it using the coordinating die.

To finish off the card, I added a strip of pattern paper from the Birthday Party Paper Pad, stamped a sentiment and added a few sequins.

For my second card, I created an inked background using the Bokeh Balloon Stencil. To create the background, I inked up an A2 card panel, I added the first layer of the stencil set, and inked it up with the same colors for a tone on tone look, and using the second stencil with white pigment ink. I finished off and splattered it with white water color paint.

While the inked panel dried, I colored an image from the Birthday Mice stamp set, along with two party hats. I die cut them using the coordinating dies. I also die cut a banner from the Frames & Flags Die Set, onto which I stamped and embossed the sentiments.

I trimmed down the inked panel, and added the colored images and sentiments on top of it! I finished off by adding the party hats to the mice along with some matching sequins.

Thanks for following along all week and the lovely comments! Please make sure to stop by the Newton’s Nook Designs Blog for more inspiration and don’t forget to tag #NewtonsNook or #NewtonsNookDesign on Instagram to share what you created!

I love how versatile this set is, you can use it to make a card, or a bookmark to gift with a book or gift card for books!

For the card, I started by stamping and coloring the balloon image from the Sky High Celebrations stamp set. After I finished coloring I die cut it using the coordinating dies. I also stamped and die cut 5 of the cloud images. Next, I embossed the card front using the Petite Clouds Stencil. I created sentiment using one from the Sky High Celebrations stamp set, along with one from the Dog Park stamp set. I stamped and embossed them in white onto a banner die cut from the Frames & Flags Die Set.

I finished off the card by adding the colored image using foam tape, and tucking the sentiment banners underneath it. I finished off with some mini clouds instead of sequins!

For the bookmark, I stamped, colored and die cut with the coordinating die the stacked gift image from the Sky High Celebrations stamp set with alcohol markers. I stamped and embossed a sentiment from the same stamp set with white onto a banner die cut using the Frames & Flags Die Set.

I finished off the bookmark by die cutting one from the Birthday Party Paper Pad using the Bookmark Die Set. I added the colored image using some foam tape, and adhered the sentiment and trimmed it down. Lastly I added some party hats from the Birthday Mice stamp set and a bit of ribbon!

Newton’s Nook Designs Birthday Release – Day 2 – Birthday Oval | Newton’s Nook Designs

Today I am excited to be part of the 9 year anniversary celebration with Newton’s Nook Designs! To celebrate this awesome milestone, Newton’s Nook Designs has released adorable new birthday themed products, which we will be revealing all week long. There are prizes too! Read all the way to the end of this post to find out how you can win!

Today we are showcasing the Birthday Oval stamp set that works with the previously released Oval Frames Die Set!

I was so excited about this set, I made two cards, a quick one and a more detailed one!

My first card is the easier of the two, I started by stamping and heat embossing the image from the Birthday Oval stamp set with white ink. Next I inked it up in a rainbow order, and buffed it to let the white pop through.

I finished off the card my stamping and embossing a sentiment in black from the same, Birthday Oval stamp set, die cut the image using a scalloped oval from the Oval Frames Die Set. I added it to a card base that I dry embossed using the (new) Bokeh Balloon Stencil.

For my second card, I went into a little detail, I stamped the image from the Birthday Oval stamp set with alcohol friendly black ink and colored in rainbow order with copic markers. Before die cutting it with a scalloped oval from the Oval Frames Die Set like my first card, I embossed a sentiment with black ink in the center.

I finished off the card my added the die cut image to a rainbow ink blended card front.

Newton’s Nook Designs Birthday Release – Day 1 – Birthday Mice, Birthday Party Paper Pad and Bokeh Balloons Stencil Set | Newton’s Nook Designs

Today we are showcasing the Birthday Mice stamp set along with the Coordinating DiesBirthday Party Paper Pad and the Bokeh Balloon Stencil.

Birthday products are always my favorite, as a result I always go a little crazy with them! I’m excited to finally have some mice to add to my collection, along with more balloon stencils!

For my first card, I wanted the stencil to shine, so I used it to create a single layer stencil card. I started by inking up the first layer of the Bokeh Balloon Stencil with a blue, green, yellow and orange ink. I lined up the second layer and inked it up with out adding more ink to my blending brushes. I like using technique when I don’t want to take out different shades of the same color.

I finished of the card by trimming it down, adding it to a blue card base and heat embossing a sentiment from the Uplifting Wishes in black.

For my second card, I loved this sheet of pattern paper from the Birthday Party Paper Pad and didn’t want to trim it down or cover up two much of it, so I just trimmed it down to the size of an A2 card front.

I colored, die cut and added an image from the Birthday Mice stamp set to the pattern paper, and embossed a sentiment in black from the Uplifting Wishes.

For my last card, I wanted to create a CAS card, as I love the way my coloring turned out for image from the Birthday Mice stamp set.

I finished off the card with a strip off pattern paper, stamped a sentiment and added some sequins.
