Florals and Butterflies | Newton’s Nook Designs

Do you love spring? I love literally EVERYTHING about it besides the allergies! Ughhh the allergies! It’s a good thing craft rooms are safe from pollen resulting in pollen free cards! No sneezes here!

I recently organized my stencils, so of course I discovered a bunch of new ones including the Petite Flowers Stencil from Newton’s Nook Designs. And used it as the starting point for this fun slimline card!

Distress oxides : abandoned coral, spice marmalade, scattered straw

I started by die cutting the large scalloped edge die from the Slimline Frames & Portholes Die Set. Then I used the Slimline Masking Circles & Squares Stencil Set along with the Petite Flowers Stencil to create an ombre background. I heat embossed a sentiment from the Monarchs Stamp Set in the center. To create the shaker element I die cut the trio of windows using the Slimline Frames & Windows Die Set, and layered it with foam tape and acetate, filling it with jewels to match the inked backgrounds.

Lastly, I heat embossed (in gold) the butterflies from Monarchs Stamp Set and inked them up using the same colors as the background. I fussy cut then as I don’t have the coordinating Monarchs Die Set. And finished off the card by adhering them on to the shaker.

I hope this card inspires you to create something for spring! Please make sure to stop by the Newton’s Nook Designs Blog for more inspiration and don’t forget to tag #NewtonsNook or #NewtonsNookDesign on Instagram to share what you created!

Inky Paws Challenge #144 | Newton’s Nook Designs

It’s time for some Inky Paws Challenge Inspiration! I’ve got three cards to share today, so let’s get too it! The current Inky Paws Challenge is a sketch challenge, so of course I played with it!

For my first card, I went with a CAS style, something that I usually don’t do. I’m all about the layers, foam tape and sequins!

Copic Combo : YG23-13-03, R29-27-RV25

I decided to use my first Newton’s Nook Design stamp (now retired), that I stamped the rose and leaves, colored in with copics and fussy cut. Then I stamped and embossed the Heartfelt Roses image, and die cut it with the largest scallop heart from the Heart Frames Die Set. Lastly I die cut a banner from the Banner Trio Die Set once from white cardstock, and secondly from pattern paper.

Finally I assembled the card with the heart die cut off set and using foam tape on the rose to add a little dimension and I had to add a few sequins! Is this a CAS card? Let me know in the comments!

For my second card, I rotated the sketch to make a landscape card!

Distress oxides : abandoned coral, spice marmalade, scattered straw. Copic Combos : R20, E57, E55-43-42

I started by ink blending the Petite Flowers Stencil onto an A2 piece of paper. I stamp and colored the image from the Newton’s Mug, colored Newton using copics and die cut it using the coordinating die. Then I paper pieced the mug from some scrap pattern paper. Lastly I diecut a pair of banners from the Banner Trio Die Set, embossing a sentiment from Birthday Roundabout on to one of them. I ended by ink blending the same colors as the stencil on to the banners.

To finish of the card, I added the mug image with foam tape on top of the layered banner, and of course added some sequins!

And … here’s my third card! I personally didn’t love it, but I wanted to post to show that not all cards are “perfect”!

Copic Combos : B05-02-00, R29-27, E37-27, V17-15

But you can’t get to perfect without practice! So go and create! Please make sure to stop by the Newton’s Nook Designs Blog for more inspiration and don’t forget to tag #NewtonsNook or #NewtonsNookDesign on Instagram to share what you created!

Coffee Shaker Card | Newton’s Nook Designs

Welcome back to the blog! Today I’m sharing my 4th card for the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop! This is my first time participating and I am having so much fun! Fingers crossed for some crafting time tonight to make more cards!

We all know I love making shaker cards! And I love drinking coffee! So here’s a combination of the two! I started this card by inking up an A2 piece of Bristol Strathmore paper using the Mugs stencil with distress oxide inks in shaded lilac, tumbled glass and kitsch flamingo.

Copic combos : BV00-000, R20-11-01, BG11-10, E59-57

I then die cut a window to create the shaker, and stamped a sentiment from Newton Loves Coffee stamp set and filled it with clay confetti. I added the pair of mugs from the Love Cafe stamp set colored with copics (listed above) and die cut using the coordinating die.

Hope you enjoyed this coffee theme card today! Make sure you head over to the Coffee Lovers Blog to find out how you can link up your card to play along! There are a TON of prizes, including one from Newton’s Nook Designs

Donuts and Coffee | Honey Bee Stamps

What better way to start your day then with donuts and coffee? Well nothing much I guess besides crafting while having the donuts and coffee!

If you follow me on Instagram, then you know that I am all about adding rainbows to EVERYTHING! So of course my donuts needed some rainbow glaze too!

I started by stamping the donut image multiple times along the coffee mug from the love you s’more stamp set. I colored them using copic markers (colors listed below) and die cut them with the coordinating dies. Then I added glossy accents to the ‘glaze’ part of the donut and let it dry overnight.

To assemble the card I trimmed down a piece of pattern paper to an A2 size and embossed a sentiment on a scrap from my last card. I added the coffee mug and donuts using foam tape, and also made a mistake! Can you see it?

Copic Combo : C1-3-5, Y15-13, YR07-04, R08-05, YG13-01, BG05-B05, V17-15, E55-33, E15-37

Coffee, just for you! | Honey Bee Stamps

Happy Saturday! Hope everyone is have a caffeinated crafty start to the weekend! I’m back here sharing a card for the Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!

I really wanted to use the Treat Yo Self stamp set from Honey Bee Stamps. Most of the images, are winter theme, so I chose two of them that can work with spring colors. I stamped, colored and die cut them using the coordinating dies.

Copic Combo : BG13-11-10, RV14-11, E37-15-13, E27-57, C5-3-1

I found some older pattern paper that I used to create a background and emboss a sentiment on. Finishing off the card with some Pretty Pink Posh jewels.

Butterfly Shaker Card | Pretty Pink Posh

Happy Saturday! I hope y’all are having a great weekend and get to have some crafty time! It’s time again for #ammismakecards! Make sure to head on over to Instagram to see what my fellow Ammi’s have made!

The theme/key word for this month’s challenge was ‘Shaker Cards‘, so of course I had to pull out my Pretty Pink Posh products as she introduced me to shaker cards almost a decade ago when she was just a blogger! So proud to see how far she has come over the years!

I usually have my shaker as the top layer of my card, but I’ve recently been loving how it looks behind diecuts. To create this card I started by inking up the new released Butterfly Background stencil in rainbow order using distress oxides (in Kitsch Flamingo, Festive Berries, Dried Marigold, Scattered Straw, Twisted Citron, Tumbled Glass, and Shaded Lilac). Then I die cut the bigger of the two butterflies from Bold Butterflies Dies to create the shaker window. I added acetate and lots of foam tape and filled the shaker window with Unicorn Dreams Clay Confetti.

I die cut the larger butterfly from Bold Butterflies Dies, this time from purple glitter paper, adding it with foam tape on the shaker window. I didn’t adhere it down all the way to ensure that confetti shows through. I finished off the card with a embossed sentiment from the Simple Sentiments on a strip cut from the Quick Stripes die cuts.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today and I hope you head over to Instagram to see what everyone else created!

Coffee Lover’s Spring/Summer Blog Hop | Newton’s Nook Designs

It’s finally time for the Coffee Lover’s Spring/Summer Blog Hop! I’ve been making a few cards and so excited to share them over the coming week! Today’s card uses one of my favorite Newton’s Nook Designs stamp sets paired with some pattern paper.

I started by stamping all the coffee mugs in the Newton Loves Coffee stamp set and colored them in with copic markers (colors listed below), and fussy cut them as I don’t have the matching dies.

Copic combo : C1, E59-57, E55-13, BG05-B02, YG 23-03, Y15-13, RV13-11

To assemble the card, I started with a light blue A2 piece of cardstock, then I layered it a sheet of pattern paper. I found the colored images were getting lost in the pattern paper so I added a sheet on vellum, on which I embossed a sentiment. I added the mug images using foam tape and finished off with jewels.

Egg die cuts with DIY colored paper | Honey Bee Stamps

Happy Wednesday! It’s been quiet around here as I’ve been trying to FINALLY organized and set up my craft space along with unpacking a bunch of boxes I’ve been hiding in closets! Spring is in the air and vaccines are getting distributed, so here’s to a brighter tomorrow! Till then we keep crafting!

I really wanted to make a rainbow of egg diecuts with the Build An Egg | Honey Cuts but I couldn’t match the right papers and since I’m trying to avoid buying ALL the things, I decided that ink blending is now my favorite and go to technique! So I inking up an scrap pieces of bristol Strathmore with distress oxides (in Kitsch FlamingoFestive BerriesDried MarigoldScattered StrawTwisted CitronTumbled Glass, and Shaded Lilac), and then die cut them using the Build An Egg | Honey Cuts. I also die cut the solid egg multiple times to back the colored die cuts.

To assemble the card, I die cut the Basketweave Slimline Cover Plate from kraft paper and embossed a sentiment in white onto black cardstock from the Hoppy Easter stamp set, and die cut it using the coordinating dies.

Floral Corner Slimline Card | Pretty Pink Posh

Happy Friday! So many reasons to be happy, the sun’s out, baby took a long nap and I don’t have to cook dinner. So of course I’m taking the opportunity to type up this blog post. I just got my hands on the Pretty Pink Posh Spring Release from DoodlebugsWA and had to get coloring immediately.

I used the newly released, Floral Corners stamp set. I started by stamping two of the images with brown ink onto Copic friendly white paper. The colors I used the listed below. I had left the stamps in my stamp positioner, and stamped the image again using versamark ink to heat emboss in gold. Then I die cut them using the coordinating dies.

Copic Combos : YG13-01-00, Y15-13-11, YR07-04-Y17, RV13-11-10, V15-12, R08-05, B02

To create the card, I started by die cutting a slim line card base using the Honey Cuts : Slimline Sentiments Stitched from white paper. Next I ink blended a piece of Bristol Stratmore paper with distress oxides in scattered straw, dried marigold and kitsch flamingo. To add dimension I splattered water and gold paint on to the inked panel. Lastly I die cut the letters ‘LOVE’ from the LOVE coordinating die set. Lastly I stamped and embossed ‘happy anniversary’ from Simple Sentiments stamp set on a black strip of paper with gold embossing powder.

I adhered the letters with liquid glue onto the center of the slimline and added the sentiment strip and floral corners with foam tape. I finished off the card using some of the green and yellow jewels from the harvest jewel mix.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope y’all have a fun, relaxing and crafty weekend!

inky paws challenge, Newtons Nook Designs

Watercolored background | Inky Paws Challenge

Why, hello there! Am I back with a third card for an Inky Paws Challenge! When was the last time that happened!

This card falls under my five min cards! I started by trimming down some water color paper to be 4.25 x 5.5 inches. Then I stamped and embossed the Spring Roundabout stamp, offset on two corners of the card front with white embossing powder.

After heat setting it, I smooshed some distress inks (shaded lilac, twisted citron and squeezed lemon) on to some scrap acetate, sprayed it with water and rubbed the watercolor paper onto it. Next time I won’t used shades of yellow and green that are so close as its hard to see the difference! I finished off the card with a sentiment from the same set embossed in gold on to a black banner cut using the banner trio die cut set.

I hope this card inspires you to create something for the Inky Paws Challenge, there’s still a day to go! Please make sure to stop by the Newton’s Nook Designs Blog for more inspiration and don’t forget to tag #NewtonsNook or #NewtonsNookDesign on Instagram to share what you created!
