Joy Clair Designs August 2020 release

Im so excited to share with y’all that I’m on the Joy Clair Designs 2020-2021 design team! Thank you Martha for this lovely opportunity, and for believing in my talent. That being said, it’s time to share the August 2020 digital stamps release with y’all! Let’s start with a sneak peak at some of the cards you will see when you hop along, stay tuned for more details on that!

I created two cards using the Floral Friends stamp set.

If you follow me on Instagram then you probably know that I am huge on making layered cards, the more the merrier! But I am not a fan of fussy cutting intricate images, and since I was working with digital stamps, and haven’t learnt how to use my cricut to cut them, I decided to try and create a one layer card, which is quite a challenge for me!

Copic colors used
Flowers : R39-R24-R05 and Leaves : YG67-YG63-YG03

For the first card, I took one of the floral images from the Floral Friends stamp set and created a card front on picmonkey, printing it out in an A2 size (on A4 paper, trimming it down after printing). I colored the images using my copic markers and foiled the sentiment. That’s it! I was tempted to add embellishments, as I usually do.

Copic colors used
Flowers : Y15-Y13-Y11 and Leaves : YG67-YG63-YG03

For the second card, I used the same images from the Floral Friends stamp set, this time fussy cutting after coloring. To assemble the card, I ink blended the front of a A2 card with some yellow ink, then added a lattice cover die for some depth. Finally I added the sentiment and floral images using foam tape for added dimension.

What’s your card making style? Layered or CAS?

Gina K Designs, Guest Post

Watercolor floral card (with Gina K designs)

Ever color a stamped image and just can’t decide how to use it? Well I was really stumped with this floral image from the latest Gina K designs Nature’s Touch card kit from their June release. After a lot of back and forth and input from a friend I came up with this card. Not my best work in my opinion, what do you think?

To create this card I started by stamping and embossing the large flower and the leaves from The Best Flowers stamp set on water color paper. I then water colored it using Gansai Tambi watercolors. I die cut them once they dried. To assemble the card I used the Ornamental Fans stencil also included in the kit, and ink blended the background using Distress Oxides Inks (in spun sugar) using Taylored Expression blending brushes. I embossed the sentiment on to some black card stock and trimmed it down. I adhered the sentiment and floral image to the card front and added some Nuvo Drops as a finishing touch.

Thanks for stopping by and as always here’s a list of products I used :

Facebook Weekly Card Sketch, Pink Fresh Studios

Pink Fresh Studios Weekly Card Sketch (#11)

As usual I finished making my card right before the deadline for this challenge! Well I made one of my two cards, a while back but wasn’t completely satisfied with the result, so made a second one in the middle of the night yesterday! I’m still sharing the first card I made as some told me, ‘we are our worst critics’!

This was the inspiration for the Pink Fresh Studio Facebook group’s Card Sketch Challenge, and here’s what I came up with!

Which one do you I made first and wasn’t satisfied with?

This was the first one! It definitely looked better in my head! I started with inking up two pieces of yupo paper using alcohol pearl inks in tranqil and sublime. Once they they dried, I die cut the inked pieces using the LOVE with botanicals die. I stamped and embossed the sentiment from the Thanks word series stamp set, and adhered the diecuts to look like a bunch of branches.

For my second card I stamp and watercolored some floral images from the Fleur 1 stamp set using Derwant Inktense pencils, and then die cut them using the coordinating dies. I stamped the same sentiment as the first card with black ink. Before adhering the stamped images to the card base, I ink blended a blue circle to highlight the images.

That’s it! Easy peasy! Thanks for stopping by and as always here is a list of supplies I used :

Fleur 1 stamp set

LOVE with botanicals die set
yupo paper
alcohol pearl inks in tranqil and sublime

inky paws challenge, Newtons Nook Designs

Inky Paws Challenge #126

Sneaking these cards in for the Inky Paws Challenge hosted by Newton’s Nook Designs right before it closes! Talk about calling it close! Mom life, right?

This challenge was a sketch, something that I have a harder time working with, so I was definitely challenged!

These are the three cards that I came up with, I tried to play around with the background and ‘circle’ to make a variety of cards!

For the first card, instead of a ‘circle’ I decided to go with a vase, I used the Lovely Blooms stamp set, and stamped and colored the mason jar, along with the hydrangeas and some leaves with copic markers, and fussy cut them out. To complete the card, I used a piece of pattern paper to create the card front, and stamped and embossed a sentiment from the Floral Fringe stamp set on to a strip of matching green card stock. I adhered my colored images using foam tape to add dimension. As a finishing touch I added a Nuvo drops.

For the second card, I started by stamping the wreath from the Happy Little Thoughts stamp set and coloring it in with copics, and fussy cutting it and stamped a sentiment from the Floral Fringe stamp set in the center of the wreath. To create the card front, I stamped the same wreath image on a piece of pattern paper multiple times, and embossed with white embossing powder. I added a ribbon and then the wreath image with some foam tape. Like my first card I added a Nuvo drops to finish off the card.

For my third and final card, I started with stamping the mixer image from the Made from Scratch stamp set, and colored it in with copics and fussy cut it. I die cut two circles, and ink blended them in blue and red. Lastly, I created the background by stamping all the remaining images onto the A2 size white card stock, with versamark watermark ink and embossed with white embossing powder. Then I ink blended the card front with yellow ink. Finally to finish the card, I stamped the sentiment on a white strip of paper, and assembled the card. And yes, my circle is chopped off and my sentiment was longer than I thought OR the circles were larger than can fit on the card front after the sentiment. Either way, I thought it still works with the sketch hence sharing!

As always, thanks for stopping by and here is a list of products that I used :

Made from Scratch stamp set
