Shell-ebrate! | Newton’s Nook Designs

Happy Tuesday! We are hopefully at the tail end of a heat wave here in the PNW so we’ll be ‘shell-ebrating as soon as we aren’t boiling! I did manage to finish reading a book and make a card while staying at home!

I love combining old and new products when making cards, here I paired the newly released Seashell Roundabout stamp set with the retiring Narly Mermaids Stamp Set, coordinating Narly Mermaids Die Set and the Tropical Fish Stencil (which are on sale!! So its a great time to add to cart!).

To create this card, I started by dry embossing the Tropical Fish Stencil on to the card base. Next I heat embossed in white, the Seashell Roundabout image and ink blended with blue and die cut it into a square. I heat embossed the sentiment from the same stamp set onto a stitched rectangle die cut and ink blended it with the same blue as the previous piece. Lastly, I copic colored the narwhale and the fishes from the Narly Mermaids Stamp Set, die cut them using the coordinating Narly Mermaids Die Set. and added some jewels as a finishing touch!

I hope this card inspires you to create something! Please make sure to stop by the Newton’s Nook Designs Blog for more inspiration and don’t forget to tag #NewtonsNook or #NewtonsNookDesign on Instagram to share what you created!

Gnome Garden | Crafty Meraki & Newton’s Nook Design Collabation

Good morning and Happy Friday! Popping in bright and early to let you know that there is Instagram Hop (with prizes!) hosted by Crafty Meraki and Newton’s Nook Designs.

I’ve recently been creating scene cards and enjoying it! Pair it with my first love, shaker cards and the you got the best kind of card! And let’s throw in some gnomes for added cuteness!

To create this card, I started by die cutting the View from my Window slimline die from Crafty Meraki and backed it with acetate, and added foam tape to create the shaker. Then I die cut a backer for the shaker and inked the areas that would peak through using the Petite Clouds Stencil from Newton’s Nook Designs and blue ink. I stamped and colored all the images from the Gnome Garden stamp set and die cut it using the coordinating dies. Last part of the scene was die cutting and inking up the grass, using the Land Border die set.

Before assembling the shaker, I stamped a sentiment from the same stamp set onto the card front and added the grass strips. I filled the shaker windows with blue seed beads before sticking it to the backing. Lastly I added the colored die cuts to finish off the card.

Thanks for stopping by today! I make sure to hop along and see what everyone else created! I hope that you have a fun and crafty weekend! Keep cool!

Watercolored Floral CAS card | Honey Bee Stamps

Happy Hump Day! I’ve had a pretty productive day, probably motivated by girls night out in a few hours! So who else owns a billion water colors and doesn’t use any of them? Guilty! I loved the hand drawn images in the Riding By stamp set, and thought it would look perfect with some messy watercoloring.

I love my foam tape, and that’s probably why I have such a hard time making CAS cards! But I tried to not add TOO much dimension and left A LOT of white space!

I started by gold embossing the basket, a branch and the ‘happy birthday’ sentiment from the Riding By stamp set directly onto the card base (I used Canson XL watercolor paper). Then I heat embossed the floral bunch and some extra branches. I colored them all in with some watercolors and let it air dry. Then I die cut the layered images with the coordinating dies, and adhered them with some foam tape. Lastly, I added some gems.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today! I hope that you are keeping cool, its been HOT here in the PNW and all I want to do is sleep!

Pretty Pink Posh

Sea Scene Card | Pretty Pink Posh

Good morning on a Saturday! I keep saying I’m going to stay offline during the weekend, but it like never happens 😅 Popping in today for Ammi’s make Cards!

This time I joined super last minute with a card that I forgot to post! The theme was summer, so I think it matched pretty well!

I’ve been dreaming of going on a sandy beach vacation for over, but instead it’s just been crafting ocean themed cards! All the products used on these are from Pretty Pink Posh.

To create this card, I started by stamping all the images from the Sea Friends Stamp Set on Bristol Smooth Cardstock. I colored them with the lightest shades of Zig Real Brush Markers and die cut them using the coordinating dies.

Next I worked on the back ground, started by ink blending an A2 piece of paper with Kitsch Flamingo, Shaded Lilac, and Tumbled Glass. I splattered it with water droplets and let it dry for a bit before adding white pigment ink through the Waves Stencil. Then I die cut the inked panel with the storybook 4 die. I attached the window die cut to a top folding A2 card using foam tape for some dimension and pieced the negative pieces in using glue.

Lastly, I scattered the die cuts around the card to create a scene, I used both glue and foam tape to create some depth and dimension. And finished off the card with a sentiment strip using the  Simple Sentiments Stamp Set on a white strip of paper and an assortment of jewels.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you were inspired to create something! Make sure to tag me @everydayengineered and @prettypinkposh on Instagram and join the Facebook group so that we can see what you have created!

Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Day 4 – BBQ Roundabout, Seashell Roundabout (works with Circle Frames & Banner Trio Dies

Happy Thursday! It’s reveal week over at Newton’s Nook Designs and I’m so excited to share a ton of inspiration with you this week! Today we are showcasing the BBQ and Seashell Roundabout stamp sets that work with the Circe Frames and Banner Trio Dies. Here’s how I was inspired!

For today’s cards I decided to change things up and make some shaped cards!

For my first card, I created an apron shaped card. I used a die cut, but you can also use a Cricut or similar machine. I embossed the BBQ Rounabout stamp in white on to the ‘apron’.

With Father’s Day coming up, I decided to use a sentiment from the Mom & Dad stamp set on the ‘pocket’ where you can easily place a gift card!

For the second card, I stamped and embossed the Seashell Roundabout stamp set, die cut it using the Circe Frames die set, and inked it up with the sun stencil from the Retro Sunset and Palm Stencil to create a blue ombre.

To create the card, I back it with a light blue scallop circle die cut from the Circe Frames die set and a sentiment embossed on a banner die cut from the Banner Trio Dies.

Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Day 3 – Kitten Beach and Beach Barks + coordinating Dies

Happy Wednesday! It’s reveal week over at Newton’s Nook Designs and I’m so excited to share a ton of inspiration with you this week! Today we are showcasing the Kitten Beach and Beach Barks stamp sets and coordinating dies. Here’s how I was inspired!

Can y’all keep a secret? I’m not an animal person, but I’ve recently been loving all the critter stamps! SO MUCH FUN! I love using them to create scene cards! Still working on my coloring though!

For my first card, I colored the dog friends from Beach Barks stamp set and die cut it out using the coordinating dies. To create the scene, I started by die cutting 3 scalloped rectangles from the Frames & Flags Die Set, I inked the first layer using the Petite Clouds Stencil as the ‘sky’. The I created ‘waves’ on the next layer with blue ink, white paint splatters and a cloud border die. The last layer is the ‘sand’ which some brown ink, brown paint splatters and a hill border die.

I added the layers with foam tape to create some dimension and added the dogs between the layers, finishing off with a sentiment from the same Beach Barks stamp set.

For my second card, I made a slimline card as I couldn’t decide which kittens to use, so why not use them all! I stamped and colored all the kittens from the Kitten Beach stamp set and die cut them using the coordinating dies.

I created the scene in a similar way to my first card, layering the Petite Clouds Stencil using the Slimline Masking Circles & Squares Stencil Set, a layer of waves and sand. Lastly I framed the scene using the slimline frame die from the Slimline Frames & Windows Die Set. I added a sentiment in the center from the Kitten Beach stamp set.

Would you like to win the “Kitten Beach” or the “Beach Barks” Stamp Set? We will choose ONE lucky winner for each stamp set!

Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Day 2 – Summer Moments and Newton’s Seashell + coordinating Dies, Retro Sun & Palms Stencil

Happy Tuesday! It’s reveal week over at Newton’s Nook Designs and I’m so excited to share a ton of inspiration with you this week! Today we are showcasing the Summer Moments and Newton’s Seashell stamp sets and coordinating dies & Retro Sun & Palms Stencil. Here’s how I was inspired!

Ink blending is my favorite techniques these days, so I get so excited with new stencils!

For my first card, I created a stamped background, using all the little stamps from all the sets in this release! Then I ink blended over it to create a blue ombre.

Then I added Newton from Newton’s Seashell, and a sentiment from the stamp set on a banner die cut from Frames & Flags Die Set.

For the second card, I went out of my comfort zone and created a scene card using a human image! I started my coloring one of the ladies from the Summer Moments stamp set, and die cut it using the coordinating die.

I used a cloud border as waves, and ink blended and splatters to add some color, before stamping the sentiment. Lastly, I added some yellow to orange ombre for the sunset using the Retro Sun & Palms Stencil. I added the ‘waves’ using some foam tape and tucked the colored image behind it to finish off the card.

Would you like to win the “Summer Moments” Stamp Set? This stamp set will be given away to ONE lucky winner!

Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Day 1 – Newton’s 4th of July and Buns Out + coordinating Dies, Fireworks Stencil

Happy Monday! It’s reveal week over at Newton’s Nook Designs and I’m so excited to share a ton of inspiration with you this week! Today we are showcasing the Newton’s 4th of July and Buns Out stamp sets and coordinating dies & Fireworks Stencil. Here’s how I was inspired!

If you are ready for all things summer, this release is perfect for you! Make sure to hop along to see what the rest of the team created!

For my first card I used the new Newton’s 4th of July stamp set and the Fireworks Stencil (in two ways). I started by coloring the image on Newton on rocket and die cutting it using the coordinating dies.

I added some texture to the card front by embossing it using Fireworks Stencil and then ink blended the same Fireworks Stencil on some vellum to help the colored image pop. I along embossed the sentiment on the vellum, that I die cut using a large scallop circle from the Circle Frames Die Set.

For my second card I used the Buns Out stamp set to create a mini slimline card (3.5 x 6 inches). I stamped and colored the image twice using copics and then die cut it using the coordinating dies.

To make the images pop, I ink blended some yellow onto the card base and added some splatters, along with the sentiment.

Would you like to win the “Newton’s 4th of July”  Stamp Set? This stamp set will be given away to ONE lucky winner!

Rainbow Blooms | Newton’s Nook Designs

Happy Tuesday! Hope y’all had a fun (and maybe crafty?) long weekend! I had a pretty productive and enjoyable one with my first post vaccine wedding and finally figuring out how to pressure wash the deck! Not much crafting happened, but thankfully I made this card ahead of time so I have something to share!

I’ve recently been adding to my distress oxide ink collection and decided to justify it by actually using them! For this card I used; festive berries, spiced marmalade, squeezed lemon, twisted citron, salty ocean and wilted violet. I started by first heat embossing the Heartfelt Blooms image 3 times on to Bristol Strathmore paper with white embossing powder. Then I ink blended using the colors mentioned in rainbow order. I buffed the images before die cutting to allow the white embossing to pop!

Next I heat embossed (in white) sentiments from the Mom and Dad and Birthday Roundabout stamp set on to banners die cut from black card stock using Banner Trio Die Set. I trimmed them a little to offset them on the card front that I cut using the scalloped rectangle from the Slimline Frames and Portholes Die Set. Lastly I added a few jewels matching the inked background.

I hope this card inspires you to create something for spring! Please make sure to stop by the Newton’s Nook Designs Blog for more inspiration and don’t forget to tag #NewtonsNook or #NewtonsNookDesign on Instagram to share what you created!

Happy crafting!
