Birthday Ice Cream | Newton’s Nook Designs

Happy Tuesday y’all! Look who is back on the blog! I have no idea where my crafting mojo is these days, I guess I have just been living in the real world! Here’s to hoping that March is craftier as I have a bunch of new products starting at me! Today I used a stamp set that I recently got the dies for and decide to create a summer themed card in hopes of manifesting warmer temperatures here in the NW!

To create this card, I started by stamping all but one of the images from the Summer Scoops Stamp Set with black ink on to copic friendly white card stock. I colored them using the copic shown below, and die cut them using the coordinating Summer Scoops Die Set.

To finish off the card, I embossed the card front using the Petite Hearts Stencil, to add some dimension but not much color as I wanted the die cut images to pop. I die cut a banner from colored cardstock using a banner from the Frames & Flags Die Set. I embossed a sentiment on to it using the white embossing powder, from the same stamp set.

I added all the die cut images, along with the sentiment banner, and finished off with some rainbow sequins.

BBQ Birthday Card | Newton’s Nook Designs

Happy Tuesday y’all! It’s super hot in the Seattle area, thankfully we have AC and I can hide out in my craftroom, well not really as I have a huge baking project this week, so even more grateful for the AC! Anyhoo… this card is inspired by the BBQ we hosted when it wasn’t a million degrees, and hopefully it cools down again soon, so that we can use the deck again!

Masculine cards are the hardest card for this floral loving crafter to make, so when these fun BBQ themed sets came my way from Newton’s Nook Design I was finally inspired to step out of my comfort zone!

To create this fun shaker card, I started by stamping and coloring all the images (minus the apron!) from the Dad’s BBQ. Once colored I die cut them using the coordinating dies. Next I built the sentiment from the same stamp set by embossing them in white on to banners die cut from black card stock using the Banner Trio Die Set.

Next I created the back of shaker by stamping and embossing the BBQ Roundabout stamp in white. I inked blended over it with blue and green ink, and buffed it after to make sure the white pops! For the front of the card, I die cut a circle using the Circle Frames Die Set for a sheet of pattern paper from the Summertime Paper Pad trimmed down to an A2 card front size. I filled the shaker with white sequins and the little colored die cuts.

I finished off the card by adding the sentiment strips along with the bbq grill image and the flames on top of the shaker window.

Sandy Scene | Newton’s Nook Designs

Happy Tuesday y’all! This card is 100% inspired by my sandy vacations plans! It’s been a while since we’ve been to the beach and seeing as summer decided to ditch us here in the PNW, we are 100% ready for some, well A LOT of sun and sand! Maybe a reading a few books too!

To create this card, I started by stamping and coloring the little kitten in the sand castle from the Kitten Beach stamp set with copic markers (sand castle : E42, E43; Kitten : C7, 5, 3; E00, 000; shell : E11, 13) and die cut it using the coordinating Kitten Beach Die Set.

Next I created the background, starting with the “sky” by inking up a piece of A2 card stock using distress oxide ink in salvage patina and tumbled glass. Next I inked up the (new) Palm Tree Stencil about an inch from the bottom using more distress oxide inks (mowed lawn, frayed burlap, and walnut stain).

Last part of the background was to add the Petite Clouds Stencil using some white texture paste. While that dried, I inked up a piece of scrap paper with frayed burlap and walnut stain distress oxide and splatted it with some ground espresso. Once it dried I die cut it with a die similar to the Sea Borders Die Set, making sure it was a bit over 1 inch in width so that it would match up with my palm trees.

Lastly to finish off the card, I stamped and embossed a sentiment in white on to a banner die cut from the Frames & Flags Die Set using black card stock.

Lawn Fawnatics

Pool Party Shaker Card | Lawn Fawn

Happy Monday crafty friends! Hope that you’re well and summer is there, whereever you are, cause it sure hasn’t shown up here in the PNW! I was up on the ScrapbookPal Blog on Saturday sharing this “detailed” card! It’s been a while since I have made a coloring card, and the Pool Party Stamp Set was perfect to take out my copic markers as I haven’t colored in a while!

To create this card :

I started by splattering an A2 piece of kraft cardstock with Black Soot, Ground Expresso distress oxide ink and white paint to create add some dimension.

Next used Mermaid Lagoon and Tumbled Glass distress oxide ink to ink blend a sheet of paper. I splattered it with water and white paint for some dimension. Once it dried I die cut it using the Stitched Ripple Backdrop and then with the stitched frame from the Stitched Pond Frame die set. I saved the inner part of the die cut, and die cut the frame again from fun foam and a piece of pattern paper.

I stamped and colored the images from the Pool Party Stamp Set using copic markers, and die cut them using the coordinating dies.

I cut a thin strip and embossed part of the sentiment on it using versamark watermark ink and white embossing powder.

Lastly, I played around with the image placement before adhering them to the card.

Thanks for following along today! I hope that this card inspires you to create something!

Till the next time, take care!

Birthday Gift Card Holder | Newton’s Nook Designs

Happy Tuesday! Welcome back to the blog! Sharing a project today to jump into summer, cause I am 100% over the cold temperatures here in the NW. I used an older Newton’s Nook Designs‘ stamp set, Summer Scoops to create a fun gift card holder.

To create this gift card holder, I started by stamping some of the images from the Summer Scoops stamp set with copic friendly black ink, and coloring it with copic markers. Once colored, I cut out the images using the coordinating die set.

I stamped and embossed a sentiment with white embossing powder on to black cardstock, once heat set I fussy cut it. I layered the images onto a vellum rectangle to ensure that it doesn’t blend into the pattern paper and added the sentiment on top of it.

I finished of the card by die cutting the gift card holder from sheets of the Springtime Paper Pad (use can also use an SVG file for this part) and added the ice cream die cuts, along with some sequins to finish of the project.

Pretty Pink Posh

Summer Wreath | Pretty Pink Posh

Hey there! Anyone that knows me, knows my obsession with Pretty Pink Posh Wreath stamp sets! So even though I didn’t know what I would create with the Summer Wreath stamp set, it got added to my cart! I ended up doing some detailed coloring and loved the end result, so turned it into a card!

I stamp and colored the Summer Wreath image from the Summer Wreath stamp set using Copic Markers, and added some white accents with a gel pen. I die cut it out using the coordinating die set.

Next I created a blue ombre background using distress ink oxides in Salvage Patina, Tumbled Glass, and Salty Ocean along with the Squiggles stencil. I added the die cut wreath on top of it and then used the script Happy Birthday die cut as a sentiment for the card. Lastly, I added some Caribbean Blue sequins to finish off the card.

Rainbow Summer Scoops | Newton’s Nook Designs

Hey there crafty friends! It’s been one of the weirdest turned sad weeks, between being lied to and a family emergency, I have had zero crafty mojo and even dropped the ball on projects that are complete and ready to be shared! I’m a day late in sharing my monthly card for Newton’s Nook Designs.

One of my favorite things about summer is being able to eat ice cream with out shivering! So of course I had to make a rainbow ice cream card, with sprinkles on top! I started by stamping and coloring all the images from the Summer Scoops stamp set, I don’t have the coordinating dies, so I fussy cut the images.

I’ve really been into mini slimline cards, so I used a scallop die for the base, and a stitched one cut from pattern paper that looks like a ink blended background! I embossed the sentiment from the Summer Scoops stamp set, adhered the colored images using glue and foam tape to add depth and dimension. And lastly finishing off with some sequins.

I hope this card inspires you to create something for summer! Please make sure to stop by the Newton’s Nook Designs Blog for more inspiration and don’t forget to tag #NewtonsNook or #NewtonsNookDesign on Instagram to share what you created!

Birthday Gnomes | Mama Elephant

Back after enjoying some time of social media, not really time off since I planned my first party in almost two years! It was so good to see friends, celebrate my little one and enjoy the summer weather!

If you haven’t seen these posts (here and here), I have been dusting off my Mama Elephant stamps (#hoarder) and sharing entries for the #mamaelephant2021gdcall! Today’s card was a special one as I custom made it for my close friends birthday, and if you can’t tell, she loves gnomes!!!

To creat this card, I started by stamping all the images (didn’t end up using them all!) and multiples of the gnomes holding the sign, from the Little Gnome Agenda stamp set. I colored them in rainbow colors, added the letters of my friends name using the little alphabet stamps from the Little Signage Agenda stamp set. I die cut the gnomes using the coordinating dies.

Next I created the scene to add the gnome, starting with the Slim Card Basics die set from Mama Elephant. I die cut the scallop rectangle once and the stitched rectangle 4 times. Then I die cut 3 of the 4 stitched rectangles with the Slimline Horizon Borders from Honey Bee Stamps. I inked them with shades of green to add the “hills” and “grass”, and used the Petite Clouds Stencil from Newton’s Nook Designs on the forth die cut to create the sky. I added the layers with foam tape, ending with a very thick card, but I wasn’t to worried as I wasn’t mailing it!

To finish off the card, I started by adding the die cut gnome images, some with glue, some with foam tape for added dimension, and accented them with some flowers from Pretty Pink Posh’s Bunny Friends Stamp Set. Lastly, I remembered that I did not add my sentiment! Quickly stamped one from the Simple Sentiments Stamp Set, this is a perfect example where the tiny sentiments save the day!

As mentioned before I am adding this as an entry to the #MamaElephantCD2021Call! You can find my previous entries here and here.

Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Day 4 – BBQ Roundabout, Seashell Roundabout (works with Circle Frames & Banner Trio Dies

Happy Thursday! It’s reveal week over at Newton’s Nook Designs and I’m so excited to share a ton of inspiration with you this week! Today we are showcasing the BBQ and Seashell Roundabout stamp sets that work with the Circe Frames and Banner Trio Dies. Here’s how I was inspired!

For today’s cards I decided to change things up and make some shaped cards!

For my first card, I created an apron shaped card. I used a die cut, but you can also use a Cricut or similar machine. I embossed the BBQ Rounabout stamp in white on to the ‘apron’.

With Father’s Day coming up, I decided to use a sentiment from the Mom & Dad stamp set on the ‘pocket’ where you can easily place a gift card!

For the second card, I stamped and embossed the Seashell Roundabout stamp set, die cut it using the Circe Frames die set, and inked it up with the sun stencil from the Retro Sunset and Palm Stencil to create a blue ombre.

To create the card, I back it with a light blue scallop circle die cut from the Circe Frames die set and a sentiment embossed on a banner die cut from the Banner Trio Dies.

Would you like to win the “BBQ Roundabout” or the “Seashell Roundabout” Stamp Set? We will choose ONE lucky winner for each stamp set!
