CAS Egg Shaped Easter Card | Ellen Hutson

Happy Tuesday crafty friends! I was on the Ellen Hutson Blog last Friday sharing an Easter card using the new Sweet Spring stamp set and wanted to share in on here too cause I loved how it came out! I was inspired (probably more manifesting spring!) using pastel colors that make me think of Spring and all the new blossoms coming our way!

To some, this may not be a CAS card, but for my cardmaking style of ink blending and multiple layers, I consider this a CAS card! Sharing some tips below to match your card to the season!

Firstly I stamped multiple images from the Sweet Spring with black ink on to copic friendly white paper, and colored them using my lightest copic combos. I always associate pastels with Spring, muted colors with Fall, and blues with Winter! The copic markers I used are shown below.

Next I using the Essential Eggs Dies to cut out a shaped card front. I also used the next size down die to cut a golden border to match the gold paint splatter I added to the card front as I wanted to add a little sparkle to the background, after adding the paint it also looked more like an easter egg!

For the sentiment, I used the new Some Bunny die. I wanted to match it to my colored images, but I didn’t have matching colored card stock, but no worries! I just used copic markers to create an ombre look that matched my images!

I diecut a few extra of the sentiment to stack them up before adding them to the card front. I like the dimension of stacked word sentiments on a card front, worth the extra effort! Make sure to save the negative of the die cut to help add it to the front of your card!

Lastly, to add the backing of the card, just score a bit on the top, fold it down and add some strong double sided tape.

I finished off the card by adding die cut word sentiment and the colored images to create a small scene and also used both foam tape and liquid adhesive to create some dimension when layering the images.

Thank you all for following along, I hope that you are inspired to create something with a spring or easter them, or not! If you do get crafty, please tag me @everydayengineered on Instagram, along with @ellenhutsonllc so that we can see what you have made!

And lastly, thank you to the Ellen Hutson team for having me back on the EH blog!

Take care,

Egg die cuts with DIY colored paper | Honey Bee Stamps

Happy Wednesday! It’s been quiet around here as I’ve been trying to FINALLY organized and set up my craft space along with unpacking a bunch of boxes I’ve been hiding in closets! Spring is in the air and vaccines are getting distributed, so here’s to a brighter tomorrow! Till then we keep crafting!

I really wanted to make a rainbow of egg diecuts with the Build An Egg | Honey Cuts but I couldn’t match the right papers and since I’m trying to avoid buying ALL the things, I decided that ink blending is now my favorite and go to technique! So I inking up an scrap pieces of bristol Strathmore with distress oxides (in Kitsch FlamingoFestive BerriesDried MarigoldScattered StrawTwisted CitronTumbled Glass, and Shaded Lilac), and then die cut them using the Build An Egg | Honey Cuts. I also die cut the solid egg multiple times to back the colored die cuts.

To assemble the card, I die cut the Basketweave Slimline Cover Plate from kraft paper and embossed a sentiment in white onto black cardstock from the Hoppy Easter stamp set, and die cut it using the coordinating dies.

Thanks for stopping by today! If you are inspired and create please remember to tag @honeybeestamps and #honeybeestamps on Instagram!

Happy Crafting!
