BRI Mood Board, Butterfly Reflections Ink, Pretty Pink Posh

Toucan card inspired by the August 2020 BRI mood board (with Pretty Pink Posh)

Whoa, looks who back again, twice on the same day! A friend recently mentioned to me that she is “stress hiking”, I think I am stress crafting/blogging, I set a goal for myself to make/share 31 cards in August, and I already have enough to share and there a few days left in the month! Now I have to sit down and write the posts! This is the last card I made inspired by the Butterfly Reflections Ink August mood board, can’t wait to see what is in store for next month!

This picture was inspired by both the colors and the images in the mood board and I wanted to give a “scene card” another try. Believe it or not, this stamp set is from last summer and I just inked it up, at least my plan of using my BRAND NEW stamps is going well! I probably have enough to last me years!

I started this card by diecutting the two frame dies from a slimline die set, along with windows on the smaller frame. Then I inked the edges of the larger frame with Twisted Citron, and along inking up the window opening using the Tropical Background Stencil. I lighting inked the inner frame with the windows using Broken China.

Next, I stamped all the images from the Tropical Toucans Stamp Set, and colored them using Chameleon Color Tone Colored Pencils (colors listed below), and die cut them using the coordinating dies. Using foam tape for added dimension, I adhered the toucans and the branches through the window opening on the inner frame. Lastly, I embossed a sentiment from the Everyday Greetings Stamp Set with white onto black cardstock, and trimmed to make it look like it was die cut!

Acetate Birthday cards (with Joy Clair Designs)

Happy Wednesday y’all! Honestly I don’t even know why I bother trying to keep track of days/dates anymore! I hope y’all are having a productive week BUT taking breaks to try and enjoy the last days of summer! For the first time in years, I’m not looking forward to fall. The probability of no football doesn’t seem appealing anymore! But I guess there will be lots of crafty time! Today I’m sharing two birthday cards using the Make a Wish stamp set from Joy Clair Designs. Birthday and Thank you cards are my most used/made cards, what yours?

Assembling this card is a little tricky because of the extra acetate layer. So, today’s write up is going to be a little different, in an effort to make it clear so you can replicate it!

Firstly start off by resizing and printing the two border images from the Make a Wish stamp set, make sure the image is 4.5 inches wide. After coloring you can use a brother scan and cut if you have one, or fussy cut, like I did. Then I ink blended a A2 piece of paper in rainbow order using distress oxides, and die cut a Happy Birthday script sentiment from it. I stacked the die cut, using some scrap paper.

Now to assemble the card, you’ll need :
2 A2 white side folding cardbases, 2 pieces of 4.25 x 5 inch acetate scored at 4.25, double sided tape and liquid adhesive. Then :
1.  Add a strip of double sided tape to the short end of the scored acetate.
2. Adhere the acetate to the back of the A2 card front, on the open side, your card should now look similar to a gate fold card.
3. Add adhesive to the colored images from the Make a Wish stamp set and adhere them to the open side of the acetate, and trim the excess.
4. Lastly, stick on the sentiments to complete the card.
The extra step of using a A2 card base is to make sure that you have space to write a message! Make sure to check if you need extra postage when you put it in the mail!

Inky Paws Challenge #125

In case you missed my little announcement, you can read about it here. And that’s the reason that these were never posted on time! But I enjoyed making them and loved the results I figured I’d share anyways! Maybe inspire you to make some summer themed cards. I used the color scheme from the Ink Paws Challenge over at Newton’s Nook Designs.

I got a little excited, and ended up making three cards. Believe it or not, I’d had these sets for years and they were brand new, proof that I need to buy less and use more!

I found the perfect paper pad from Doodlebug Designs in my stash that matched the color scheme, so I used that to make some CAS cards, and one detailed one, cause if you know me, then you know I need to go a little extra on my cards!

For the first and also most detailed card, I started by stamping ALL the images from the Summer Scoops stamp set in watercolor friendly black ink on to heavy weight white card stock. I used my derwant inktense colored pencils to color in the images, trying to stick with the color scheme. Once the images were dry, I fussy cut them. To assemble the card, I started to create the background with some ink blending using a strips stencil. You can always use pattern paper, but I have been enjoying practicing my ink blending lately. To finish the card I adhered the fussy cut images using foam tape and glue to add layers to create dimension. Finally stamped a sentiment from the same set in black ink and added a few nuvo drops.

For the second card I used the Party Pops set (which is retired), and stamped and fussy cut the images. Using some pattern paper I created a card front and foam mounted the stamped images. I finished off with a sentiment from the same set along with some nuvo drops.

For the last card, I only stamped the sentiment! The rest is just diecutting, very unusual for me, right? I used the same pattern paper pack for the card front, and also die cut the balloons from the Balloon Shaker Die Set, I left one as it, and made the second one a shaker with the help of some foam tape and acetate. I stamped the sentiment on the back of the shaker from the Uplifting Wishes and filled it with Summer Sequin Mix from Pretty Pink Posh. After I adhered the balloons to the the card front I added the string die cut along with a few more sequins.

And that’s it’s! Thanks for stopping by and as always, here’s a list of products I used:

Pretty Pink Posh, The Daily Marker Coloring Challange

#thedailymarker30day Challenge : Day 1-5

I know I am really really really behind on this challenge, I have been coloring/creating, just not regularly. The reason being, I needed to take the break, step back and declutter (round 2!), and reorganizing my stash. Knowing what I have and where it is, really helps with productivity. If you follow me on Instagram, then you have already seen these cards, but I’m sharing them on here again so that I can link all the products that I used, and also share a little more into techniques that I used.

Day 1 : Kites with Chameleon Dual Brush Colored Pencils

This card was part of my Dad’s and Grad’s theme week, and you can find all the details here.

Day 2 : Animal Frames with Zig Real Brush Markers

This set of cards was also part of Dad’s and Grad’s Theme week, you can find more details here.

Day 3 : Stamped and inked background with Distress Oxides

I made this card as part of Dad’s and Grad’s theme week, so the exact colors that I used can be found here along with the technique. I shared it as day 3 after a failed attempt to recreate it on Instagram live.

Day 4 : Pigment Ink blending over a Stencil

If you follow me on Instragram, then you probably heard or read about my disastrous attempt to create a rainbow background on live and then again on stories, but I guess all’s well that ends well. I really ended up liking the final card that I created with the card.

To create this card, start with creating a colored background. I created a rainbow, but any combination of colors will work well. I used distress oxide inks in seedless preserves, salty ocean, shabby shutters, fossilized amber, spiced marmalade and candied apple. Next I attached a stencil to the inked background, and adhered it to my work surface. Using a Tim Holtz mini ink blending tool, I inked up the stencil using Fresh Ink in Paper White. Peel off the stencil and set it aside to dry, while working on the sentiment ring, starting with diecutting the beach scene die 5-6 times from regular cardstock, and layering them. On a piece of velllum, I embossed sentiments from Tropical Friends stamp set, and placed my stacked window die cuts on the vellum. Once the glue dried, I trimmed the vellum and adhered it on to my card front. If the pigment ink is still tacky, you can dry it off using a heat gun. As always, I added some jewels to finish the card.

Day 5 : Peacocks and Stripes with ink blending and water coloring

While cleaning and clearing I found lots and lots colored diecuts, so

To create this card, I used a previously colored image from Peacock Friends stamp set, using my zig real brush markers. The using the wide stripe stencil from Pretty Pink Posh, I inked up a piece of card stock using peacock feature and a make up brush. Then I cleaned the stencil, used is as a mask, and covered the blue stripes, leaving the white space open. After adhering it back to my work surface, I inked up the card front a second time using twisted citron to create the double color stripes. I cut down the ink panel, layering with with some foam tape and cut white card fronts. Before adhering the white layer I stamped and embossed a sentiment in gold to match the outline of the peacock. And as usual added a few jewels to finish off!

Dads and Grads Theme Week (with Pretty Pink Posh) : Day 3

Three days in a row! When was the last time did this ever happen! Today is baby at home day plus we are road tripping tomorrow, so this post is going to be short and sweet. You can find day 1 of this theme week here, along with day 2 here.

For today’s cards I did some really quick coloring, with minimal blending. Since the images are so small, no one will be the wiser. Using the coordinating I cut them out to use as accents on the shaker windows.

For the ‘congrats’ shaker, I started by diecutting the Stitched Film Strip Die (from Pretty Pink Posh) 6 times and glued them together. I really wanted the sections to stay separated, that why layered the diecuts. I did add a layer of acetate after the first colored diecut. To add a little interest to card front, I stamped the clustered confetti stamp with a brown ink and added the sentiment. After filling the shaker with sequins, and closing it off with a second sheet of acetate. Once the glue dried, I attached it to the card front and added the colored images for the final touch.

For the second card, you can use a ‘happy father’s day’ sentiment, but since I don’t need anymore of them, I just used a ‘happy birthday’ sentiment as I’m always struggling with masculine cards. To created the shaker for this I die cut the storybook 1 and scalloped frame die from some colored card stock together. I was going to keep the windows separated, but I ran out of time and couldn’t find my thin foam strips, #momlife. Instead I just added a double layer of 3M foam tape, to create the shaker window, along with some acetate. I filled with with sequins and attached it to the card front, after stamping the sentiment. Just like the congrats card, I added my colored images to finish off the card.

Hope these cards inspire you to create something soon from your stash!
