Butterfly Scene Slimline – Inky Paws Challenge #130

Anyone that knows me, knows that I love making floral cards! Anything else is a challenge! Including making a scene card, which is the theme of this challenge!

The card I came to for this challenge is probably not really scene, but its the best that I could come up with given my stamp collection! I really need to diversify my stamp collection!

I started by stamping and coloring (with copics) all the butterflies from Beautiful Wings. Since I don’t have the coordinating dies, I just fussy cut them! Next I die cut the frames, cloud and hills from a slimline die set. To create the ‘scene’ I ink blended the inner frame using Broken China and Lucky Clover, the cloud strip with Tumbled Glass and the hill with Mowed Lawn distress oxide inks. I assembled the card with lots of foam tape, arranged the butterflies, and finished off with a sentiment, white embossed on a piece of black card stock. Lastly I added some nuvo drops!

Thanks for stopping by and as always here’s a list of products I used :

Acetate Birthday cards (with Joy Clair Designs)

Happy Wednesday y’all! Honestly I don’t even know why I bother trying to keep track of days/dates anymore! I hope y’all are having a productive week BUT taking breaks to try and enjoy the last days of summer! For the first time in years, I’m not looking forward to fall. The probability of no football doesn’t seem appealing anymore! But I guess there will be lots of crafty time! Today I’m sharing two birthday cards using the Make a Wish stamp set from Joy Clair Designs. Birthday and Thank you cards are my most used/made cards, what yours?

Assembling this card is a little tricky because of the extra acetate layer. So, today’s write up is going to be a little different, in an effort to make it clear so you can replicate it!

Firstly start off by resizing and printing the two border images from the Make a Wish stamp set, make sure the image is 4.5 inches wide. After coloring you can use a brother scan and cut if you have one, or fussy cut, like I did. Then I ink blended a A2 piece of paper in rainbow order using distress oxides, and die cut a Happy Birthday script sentiment from it. I stacked the die cut, using some scrap paper.

Now to assemble the card, you’ll need :
2 A2 white side folding cardbases, 2 pieces of 4.25 x 5 inch acetate scored at 4.25, double sided tape and liquid adhesive. Then :
1.  Add a strip of double sided tape to the short end of the scored acetate.
2. Adhere the acetate to the back of the A2 card front, on the open side, your card should now look similar to a gate fold card.
3. Add adhesive to the colored images from the Make a Wish stamp set and adhere them to the open side of the acetate, and trim the excess.
4. Lastly, stick on the sentiments to complete the card.
The extra step of using a A2 card base is to make sure that you have space to write a message! Make sure to check if you need extra postage when you put it in the mail!

Coloring Medium : Chameleon Color Tones Pencils
Copic Combos : B21-34, G12-21, R20-22, V22-25, Y11-21, YR15-12

BRI Mood Board, Butterfly Reflections Ink, Pretty Pink Posh

Birthday cards inspired by the August 2020 BRI mood board

Hey fellow crafters! Hope that you had a relaxing and crafty weekend! I spent most of mine working on these cards, challenging myself to use critter stamps! I have a huge collection from Pretty Pink Posh, most haven’t even gotten inky! Yes, working on using on ALL my stamps before buying more, failing miserably as I have stamps coming in the mail. But I have slowed down!

I was having a hard time finding a starting point, then came across this mood board from Butterfly Reflections Ink. Double challenge accepted as color palette isn’t my go to colors! And here’s what I came up with!

For the first card, I started by adhering the Birthday Background Stencil to a A2 piece of cardstock with some washi tape. Then I ink blended using Twisted Citron distress oxide ink, and added a layer of glitter gel. At this point take off the stencil and clean it off before the glitter hardens. Let the glitter paper dry for a few hours before assembling the card. I colored an image from the Party Friends Stamp Set, with copics, and diecut the happy birthday sentiment from some ink blended card stock (I used broken china). To assemble, I trimmed down the stenciled card front and adhered it to a blue A2 card front. Then I added the colored image using some foam tape and stacked the die cut sentiment to add dimension.

Copic Combos : Y 35 – 15 – 13, YR 18 – 15 – Y 15, V 15 – 12, BG 13 – 10, BG 05 – 10

For the second card, I started by inking a A2 piece of card stock with Twisted Citron distress oxide ink, then die cut it using the Birthday Frame Die from Pretty Pink Posh. I colored and die cut another image from Party Friends Stamp Set. To assemble the card, I ink blended the center of the card base with some Broken China Distress Oxide, then I adhered the frame, and the colored image with foam tape for dimension. Finally finished off with a small embossed sentiment on the image (because I forgot to plan for an image!)

Copic Combos : R 20, Y 13, V 12 – 15, BG 13, BG 05 – 10, C 1, B 32 – 34

Facebook Weekly Card Sketch, Pink Fresh Studios

Pink Fresh Studios Weekly Card Sketch (#13)

Hey there! Welcome back! It’s been a while since I got the chance to create using the weekly sketch on Facebook, but excited to be back with a pair of quick cards!

As usual, since I had my supplies out I figured I’d make two cards, one simple and the second one a little more involved with some copic coloring.

I was crafting half asleep and totally forgot to make a note of the copic and distress oxide ink colors I used!

For the copic colored card, I started by stamping the PinkFresh Studio Floral Background onto heavy white card stock with copic friendly black ink. Then I colored them in Rainbow order, grouping the flowers in threes or fours! To finish the card I embossed a sentiment from the PinkFresh Studio Word Series THANKS stamp set on to a strip of pink vellum with white embossing powder. I chose a image with a thicker font to be able to hide glue behind it to adhere the vellum strip onto the colored card front.

The second card is the same process as the first, except I ink blended the background with distress oxide inks.

As always , thanks for stopping by and here’s a list of products that I used;

Facebook Weekly Card Sketch, Pink Fresh Studios

Pink Fresh Studios Weekly Card Sketch (#11)

As usual I finished making my card right before the deadline for this challenge! Well I made one of my two cards, a while back but wasn’t completely satisfied with the result, so made a second one in the middle of the night yesterday! I’m still sharing the first card I made as some told me, ‘we are our worst critics’!

This was the inspiration for the Pink Fresh Studio Facebook group’s Card Sketch Challenge, and here’s what I came up with!

Which one do you I made first and wasn’t satisfied with?

This was the first one! It definitely looked better in my head! I started with inking up two pieces of yupo paper using alcohol pearl inks in tranqil and sublime. Once they they dried, I die cut the inked pieces using the LOVE with botanicals die. I stamped and embossed the sentiment from the Thanks word series stamp set, and adhered the diecuts to look like a bunch of branches.

For my second card I stamp and watercolored some floral images from the Fleur 1 stamp set using Derwant Inktense pencils, and then die cut them using the coordinating dies. I stamped the same sentiment as the first card with black ink. Before adhering the stamped images to the card base, I ink blended a blue circle to highlight the images.

That’s it! Easy peasy! Thanks for stopping by and as always here is a list of supplies I used :

Inky Paws Challenge #126

Sneaking these cards in for the Inky Paws Challenge hosted by Newton’s Nook Designs right before it closes! Talk about calling it close! Mom life, right?

This challenge was a sketch, something that I have a harder time working with, so I was definitely challenged!

These are the three cards that I came up with, I tried to play around with the background and ‘circle’ to make a variety of cards!

For the first card, instead of a ‘circle’ I decided to go with a vase, I used the Lovely Blooms stamp set, and stamped and colored the mason jar, along with the hydrangeas and some leaves with copic markers, and fussy cut them out. To complete the card, I used a piece of pattern paper to create the card front, and stamped and embossed a sentiment from the Floral Fringe stamp set on to a strip of matching green card stock. I adhered my colored images using foam tape to add dimension. As a finishing touch I added a Nuvo drops.

For the second card, I started by stamping the wreath from the Happy Little Thoughts stamp set and coloring it in with copics, and fussy cutting it and stamped a sentiment from the Floral Fringe stamp set in the center of the wreath. To create the card front, I stamped the same wreath image on a piece of pattern paper multiple times, and embossed with white embossing powder. I added a ribbon and then the wreath image with some foam tape. Like my first card I added a Nuvo drops to finish off the card.

For my third and final card, I started with stamping the mixer image from the Made from Scratch stamp set, and colored it in with copics and fussy cut it. I die cut two circles, and ink blended them in blue and red. Lastly, I created the background by stamping all the remaining images onto the A2 size white card stock, with versamark watermark ink and embossed with white embossing powder. Then I ink blended the card front with yellow ink. Finally to finish the card, I stamped the sentiment on a white strip of paper, and assembled the card. And yes, my circle is chopped off and my sentiment was longer than I thought OR the circles were larger than can fit on the card front after the sentiment. Either way, I thought it still works with the sketch hence sharing!

Facebook Weekly Card Sketch, Pink Fresh Studios

Pink Fresh Studios Weekly Card Sketch (#10)

Hey, I shared these cards on the Pink Fresh Studio Facebook group’s Card Sketch Challenge, but I didn’t get a chance to share on the blog or my Instagram, and thought I’d put up a quick post since its a perfect time to share as the Daily Marker 30 challenge is going on!

Using the above sketch I made these two cards.

For the first card, I stamped part of the image from the Fleur 1 stamp set on two corners of the a A2 piece of heavy weight white card stock, with watercolor friendly black ink along with the sentiment from the Thanks word series stamp set. I then colored in the images using Nuvo watercolor pencils for a ‘messy’ look. Once the panel dried I added some silver Nuvo drops and added it to a card base.

For the second card, I stamped the same image and sentiment, this time using versamark watermark ink and embossed in gold. I ‘colored’ in the flowers using a Nuvo Aqua flow pen in glitter gloss. It’s hard to see in the picture but it adds a little shine to the image. As a finishing touch I added some gold Nuvo drops.

Thanks for stopping by and as always here’s a list of the products I used

Inky Paws Challenge #125

In case you missed my little announcement, you can read about it here. And that’s the reason that these were never posted on time! But I enjoyed making them and loved the results I figured I’d share anyways! Maybe inspire you to make some summer themed cards. I used the color scheme from the Ink Paws Challenge over at Newton’s Nook Designs.

I got a little excited, and ended up making three cards. Believe it or not, I’d had these sets for years and they were brand new, proof that I need to buy less and use more!

I found the perfect paper pad from Doodlebug Designs in my stash that matched the color scheme, so I used that to make some CAS cards, and one detailed one, cause if you know me, then you know I need to go a little extra on my cards!

For the first and also most detailed card, I started by stamping ALL the images from the Summer Scoops stamp set in watercolor friendly black ink on to heavy weight white card stock. I used my derwant inktense colored pencils to color in the images, trying to stick with the color scheme. Once the images were dry, I fussy cut them. To assemble the card, I started to create the background with some ink blending using a strips stencil. You can always use pattern paper, but I have been enjoying practicing my ink blending lately. To finish the card I adhered the fussy cut images using foam tape and glue to add layers to create dimension. Finally stamped a sentiment from the same set in black ink and added a few nuvo drops.

For the second card I used the Party Pops set (which is retired), and stamped and fussy cut the images. Using some pattern paper I created a card front and foam mounted the stamped images. I finished off with a sentiment from the same set along with some nuvo drops.

For the last card, I only stamped the sentiment! The rest is just diecutting, very unusual for me, right? I used the same pattern paper pack for the card front, and also die cut the balloons from the Balloon Shaker Die Set, I left one as it, and made the second one a shaker with the help of some foam tape and acetate. I stamped the sentiment on the back of the shaker from the Uplifting Wishes and filled it with Summer Sequin Mix from Pretty Pink Posh. After I adhered the balloons to the the card front I added the string die cut along with a few more sequins.

And that’s it’s! Thanks for stopping by and as always, here’s a list of products I used:

Inky Paws Challenge #124 (3)

Confession : 90% of my stamp collection is floral! I finally figured out how to shade and color them, and I am obsessed, I have a handful of critters and should probably challenge myself with those BUT florals are so much more fun! What are your favorite type of stamps to use?

That being said, with the current Newtons Nook Design challenge, I had to sneak in one last card before it closed as the theme was perfect for me!

I decided to try out the new trend of slimline cards using my new dies from Mama Elephant, which make layering so much easier! I stamped the floral wreath from the Happy Little Thoughts stamp set three times with embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder on watercolor paper. Then I (practiced) watercoloring using my gansai tambi watercolors. After the coloring dried I embossed a sentiment from the Floral Fringe stamp set in middle of card.

As usually, here’s a list of products that I used;

Facebook Weekly Card Sketch, Pink Fresh Studios

Pink Fresh Studios Weekly Card Sketch (#9)

Time to make 2 cards : 30 mins.
Time to photograph/edit : 40 mins.
Time to clean up craft space for next project : 3-5 business days!

Yup that was my afternoon yesterday, I really needed to disconnect and what better way then to craft! But now I am left with a HUGE mess to clean up! Good thing its cleaning day, right? I wanted to craft, but I couldn’t think of anything to make, zero “creative mojo”! That’s when I remembered the PinkFresh Studio Facebook Card Challenge, this sketch ended yesterday, but I still wanted to share the cards on here, but a new one should be out later today.

Using the sketch above I created two cards! Couldn’t decide which one to share so shared both! Will let you know next week if that’s allowed or not!

If you know me then you probably know by now that my favorite color combo’s are gold and black and rainbows! We could all use a little brightness in our lives so I think rainbows are a necessity these days!

For the rainbow card I embossed the background stamp in white embossing powder, before ink blending I used a circle die cut to create the cut out pattern to match the sketch. I set aside the diecuts and ink blended using a set of distress oxides with my blending brushes, I went back and forth between the colors to avoid harsh lines. Once I was done, I used a microfiber clothe to rub off the access ink and expose the white embossing. I adhered the background to a white top folding notecard, and added the circle diecuts back using some foam tape to add dimension. I finished off using a sentiment embossed in white on black cardstock that I trimmed down and adhered in the middle of the card.

For the second card, I used a different background stamp, but this time embossed in gold. I cut out the circles in the same way as first card, but this time I discarded the diecut circles and adhered the background to a black notecard with some foam tape. I embossed the sentiment in gold on to black card stock and double foam taped it on to the center of the card. I really wanted to add some gold jewels, but couldn’t find mine, so I used some nuvo drops instead!
